    Another FAE thread.

I got the chance to go for a ride in and behind a boat with no FAE yesterday and wow , holy fume-o-matic. If you don't have an FAE yet, you are killing yourself and everyone aboard your boat. It's one of those things that after you have one on your boat, you kind of forget what it's like until you experience a boat without one. It is almost unreal. As soon as I got back to my boat, I felt the effects kicking in. The headache, nausea and dizziness. This is not to say I didn't enjoy myself, I did. It's just that the fumes can be eliminated for what is a fraction of what a boat costs.

    Just get one already.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

See we are in the boat for hours at a time and no one complains about the smell. You do get a wiff once in a while but none that makes anyone sick. When surfing I never smell the exhaust and never get sick either. However we do not sit and idle either. When the boat is stopped for more then 10 seconds it is shut off.

I'm going to have to side w/ NICKYPOO on this one. Once I got mine it makes a big difference. I didn't realize it until I got one on my boat.

I just got mine installed... I gotta say that the boat is much quieter and less "fumey"... Wasn't hard at all to install. Overall I am very happy with the purchase

I just had this discussion last weekend as we are starting to get into surfing. I do not have FAE. Does any one boat have more fumes circling behind the boat then others? I have a Z1

FAE is absolutely worth it. Once you have it you'll not only notice the lack of fumes, but the lack of decibels on sound. You can talk on the boat and provided a safer experience.

I haven't seen any posts of FAE owners that aren't fully satisfied. Best $400ish you'll spend.

Ok, here goes. I am not completely satisified. The first time I installed it it ripped off the hose clamps on the right side. After fixing it and tightening the hose clamps far tighter then I thought possible it changed angles to an almost 45 degree angle. This happend twice. Now, it is finally working as expected.

I noticed a HUGE difference after i installed my FAE, especially if I am with the kids on the tube. However our boats a 2000 so i wonder if the newer boats run cleaner? But if they all run about the same, i'd have to say no way i could be on the water as long and enjoy being on the boat as much if i didn't have it installed.

For those that do not smell fumes behind your boat, just an FYI, the dangerous and deadly gas that the FAE is designed to redirect away from the rider is Carbon Monoxide (Co) and is colorless, odorless and tasteless.

We compiled a video and did a lot of testing with and without the FAE.

                      http://wake9.com/cokills

The bottom line is, that Wakesurfing without or without the FAE is safe. However, driving at slow speeds, like under 15 mph, can be dangerous for people sitting around the rear of the boat, especially in that "ballast boy" seat. The levels found on the engine cover area, and in the rear seats can get up to the 200-400ppm level, depending on the boat. At that level it would still take prolonged exposure over an hour or two to even cause vomiting and collapse.

Educate your family and friends on the boat to move to the front of the boat if they feel headache or nausea.
Never run your boat while stationary.
If you wakesurf, or spend a lot of time at slower speeds, get an FAE. Not for the surfer, but for the fat guy you throw in the corner. ;-)
NEVER EVER TEAKSURF or ride on the swim deck.
Remember that the fresh air exhaust DOES NOTHING if you are not moving, so still never run your boat while stationary other than for a minute or two.

You never know what you are missing out on until you get one! It is so much quieter, my stereo sounds better, and I can talk at full speed. I used to come back from boating with headaches that I thought was being in the sun too much. Now, I don't with the FAE (unless it is due to a hard crash). I will never own a boat without an FAE.

Even when boarding, I see the bubbles come up behind me.

Yes, thats another benefit, its like getting a more powerful amp. Stereo is much louder under power.
