    Tower cracked again!

Those of you that own or have owned a 1998 - 2001 Tige know what I'm talking about. I bought my 2000 21 V new and was welding on it the second summer we had it. After the second crack appeared we really went to town on it and stiffened it up everywhere. It has held up ever since.... until yesterday. I knew as soon as I saw a little wooble there had to be a crack somewhere. I found it on the driver's side just below where the inner support starts (the earlier models did not have the inner supports).

I am thinking about adding a flat piece from the bottom of the inner support down. The pad should hide it. I think the pads are on those old towers to hide all the repairs!!

I think you can only throw so much perfume on BS to make it seem like it is something good. At some point you have to get a new tower. Maybe you have access to good welding supplies, but I would just buckle down and buy a Monster or other tower.
    Be excellent to one another.

I am assuming you have the Metcraft tower.

It IS the infamous "Metcrap" tower!

TallTigeGuy- Any other tower looks better than what we have for sure. The problem I have is that I have not found board racks that are more user friendly than what I have. My racks point toward the sky, so the boards are on thier edge on the top of the tower. I just toss the boards up, I don't even have to strap them in. I have driven home at 65 mph without straping them in (not on pupose, it just happened).
In the summer of 2008, I was well connected with our Tige dealer and took out several new Tiges, Z1 (x5), RZ2(x2), 22Ve (x3) and 24Ve (once). I had a board fall off in the water once (RZ2) and once at the boat ramp (Z1).
The new towers also wobble more than my refortified piece of crap.

I like the look of the Titan tower for after market, but for now I am choosing function over fashion.

I just replaced my metcrap tower this spring with a Monster Tower. I was impressed on the quality and the stiffness of the MT2 Monster Tower. Board racks hold the boards solid. I was never real impressed with the Metcrap's racks... I was not fond of the boards dripping all over the boat and the people inside...

Here is a picture of my boat with the Monster.

I love the Titan tower as well.

You must be pretty tall to get the boards up there. Most of my friends complained about my 2002 tower that also had the racks up there, although the tower was different.

Good luck with whatever you do.

Like I said, if you have good access to a welder, keep welding it.

Wakeboards should never fall out unless the strap breaks. How did you drop the boards?

can you post some pictures. I beefed my tower up, but just on the back side. I haven't had any issues, would like to see what yours did. Also if possible can you point out the areas you welded up. I am planning on getting a new tower, but I am trying to wait right now if possible. We have good welders where I work.

I really like that look Super B.

Does the Monster tower fold down below the widnsheild? I will be replacing my Metacraft tower this winter. I only have about 6 inches of clearence between garage door and tower.

Yes, the tower will fold up below the windshield. And if more clearance is needed, the front legs come off. Once the legs are off, the top of the tower can pivot to gain more clearance if needed.

Super B- I don't care for the dripping either. We always have one on the floor drying.

Dale- I will post some pictures after we get the tower back, hopefully Monday.

TTG- The racks on the 08's were on the side angled up about 10 -15 degrees. They just vibrated out.

Looks good SuperB, im looking at replacing my tower as well. I LOVE the samson towers but the cost kind of blew me away, especially with an older boat. Did the tower mounts fit your existing tower mounts, or did you have to cut new mounting holes?

I had that same tower and it was one of the first things that I replaced. It made an amazing difference in the look of the boat.

It is an Xplosion Tower out of Southern California. Their website is no longer up, so I don't know if they are still in business. The local Tige dealer, Tige Water Sports used to put them on all their new boats. I am not sure if they still are or if they have switched.

It has been a solid tower for me.

This should be a sticky. Tough love.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.
