    Surf Rope

Thought I'd get a feel for what y'all prefer in a surf rope...

Is a braided rope too hard for women/kids to get up on?

Is the rope with the narrow handle still dangerous?

I would just go buy some rope, whip out your boy scout knots, figure out the length you like, and just put a regular handle on the end. Its nice having the full handle while your learning.

Regular handles are considered pretty dangerous, and that is why there are those made specifically for surfing that have small handles. We got this one, and I love it. It has the small handle and also the thick knotted/braided section for pulling yourself up and down the wake. http://www.overtons.com/modperl/prod...1&merchID=4006

          rope

Yes, I think the rope with knots are harder for women and kids with smaller hands.I like the LF small handle rope the best.I had a teenage girl get her arm caught in the regular size handle one day when we didn't have the smaller surf handle rope on board the boat.

Please Do Not follow this advise....use a braided rope or a surf handle. The one like Timmy reccomended is good or a surf combo from Straight Line.

X2!! Love this rope. Easy to hold, easy to throw in the boat, adjustable, inexpensive, great product...
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

Can you enlighten me on why we shouldnt do this? I just havent heard anything about it before. And I really dont want to have people getting hurt on my boat.

Especially while learning you are trying to to get slack in the rope to free surf. If you get an arm or any other body part in the handle you risk serious injury before getting the boat stopped. I've done it too, but it's not worth it...we only use a surf rope now.

I think the liquid force surf robe is the best one available
Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity. Albert Einstein

I have a knotted and did not like it, mostly because it was rough on peeps hands, got one with a small handle and like that a lot more.

And, while getting into this kind of trouble is made possible by the slack already being there, the risk is increased due to the slow speed of the boat. I know a guy that got caught by the leg in a ski rope going over 20mph. That was freak. It is much easier with built-in slack and half the speed.

ditto - the one I linked to above is wide enough that you can either fit your first three fingers of both hands or even all fingers in it while getting up and is still pretty safe.
