I rode Lake Austin last weekend. It's a narrow, river-like lake so the water is awesome as long as there are not a lot of boats in the area. There are a couple of restaurant/bars at the damn. One of them is called Hula Hut, cool place.

I should be out on Lake Austin Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It's my favorite place and real close to my house. It usually gets crowded down towards Hula Hut and the 360 bridge but if you go up river past Emma Long Park it is usually pretty good. I will attempt to call you or look for you.

Since a few of you are from that area, I'm going to Lake Placid near Seguin for 4th of July. What can you tell me about the water there?

I am going to be hanging with a group at Emma Long Park on Lake Austin on Saturday from noon till we get tired, if you guys are out look for a blue and white 2004 22V anchored at Emma Long and boarding and surfing around that area and stop by and say hello.

Awesome thanks! I'll keep an eye out for everyone! Where is the best place to put in? Does Emma Long Park have a ramp?

Emma long park has two ramps. Not the greatest neighborhood though, hide anything/everything you leave in the tow vehicle.

The no wake zone does not allow you to launch with no wakes, you will see what I mean when you get there as the ramps are not in a cove, but right on the side of the lake/river. Pay extra attention and watch your boat/trailer when loading/unloading.

DO NOT tie your boat to the dock there at the ramp. Even with bumpers I have seen boats get tore up from the other wakes coming by. We do not even pick up the driver at the dock if there are many waves so as not to tear up our ride. Have fun!

We put in at Emma Long most of the time and never had a problem. The wakes are pretty bad though. The better place is under the 360 bridge they have 3 ramps and it's $10. If you get out early enough you can put in at Walsh Landing right next to Hula Hut for free. They have a small parking lot that fills up quick on weekends. I'm actually getting ready to head out there right now.

We are going to grab a picnic site real close to the Emma Long boat ramp, should have the boat parked and at that site by 11am tomorrow. I will look for you launching and walk over and say hey if I see you. Do the same if you see us.
