    TAPS 2 Rams dieing

Just wondering if anyone else is having problems like this, and I want to get a consensus from other '04 owners (since I've been told by my dealer that the newer TAPS 2 setups are hydraulic)

Anyways, I'm on my THIRD TAPS ram in a little over a year. This is on a boat of which I took delivery 3/31/04.

This latest episode is definitely the motor, as it moves, but gets caught up unless its physically moved by someone behind the boat (ignition on, engine off). Since it automatically goes up to the "8" setting when the ignition is shut off, the plate is permanently up until its physically pushed down, while someone hits the TAPS down switch on the throttle. Now, the original ram drive was replaced because it quit working altogether.

Also, my dealer kindly informed me that since the boat is older than a year, its not covered by warranty. I've since politely asked them to request again that Tigé cover the parts- I have no problem installing this myself. But, as this is just the latest in a string of problems that started 3 months after I took delivery, I'm really beginning to question the quality of certain parts of the boat.

Please set up an appointment with your dealer to get your boat into the shop and we can get this situation taken care of. I will work with your dealership on this issue and see what we can do. If there are any questions please contact your dealership and if needed you can contact me.

They've already sent me the part and charged me for the parts. I'll be installing it this weekend, all I'm asking is that I'm reimbursed for the parts.

Sounds like it is something other than the ram/motor. Maybe you should take Andrew up on his offer to diagnose it deeper.

        Just my two cents.

the gears inside the ram are stripped. If he would like me to, I'll send him the previous one for diagnosis.

I have not heard nothing and as I have requested previously, I would be more than happy to work with your dealership to get the problem resolved and you back on the water. I assume from these post that you decided not to go to the dealership for the repairs. Please send me the old parts back and I will see what I can do. Again if ther are any questions please give me a call. 325-676-7777. Look forward to talking to you.

Charlie York at the Ski dock called and spoke to Harvey (?), who denied warranty coverage on this. I bought the parts through the ski dock, and they billed my credit card.

I'm back on the water, however I'm wondering whats going to go wrong next.
