We are buying this boat. It has a 307 GM Vortec engine in it. Does anyone have ANY information on this boat or motor? I'm trying to find out what the impeller is like to change out. Any special problems we should look for?
there are a couple people on here with your boat, i have the 2200i but it has the 350 in it, i know someone will chime in pretty quick. The impeller for all our boats is in the 20 to 30 dollar range so you dont have to worry about that.
For any of the problems, haveyou taken he boat out and driven it realy hard? checked all the switches? made sure the TAPS plate runs smooth and operates fully? just look at it as if you were buying a used car, check all the bells and whisles and if you like it pull the trigger
Good luck and welcome to the family
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It's just that yours is stupid.
Same boat I purchased last year( late season), so far been great also my first boat purchase.
Mine has the 350, But I am sure the impeller is similar it was easy to change. My TAPS didn't work when I got mine I knew this when buying it the problem with mine was the fluid tank was empty and a ground had become disconnected. If you don't mind me asking how much is it? You can PM me if you like.
It takes on water easy over the bow from big waves or let off the gas quick with people up front... Kinda fun if you want to get them wet
I have done a ton of work on mine over this winter if you have any questions just post them up.
Paying $11,500 it's got 150 hours on it. It has a monster tower and an upgrade on the stereo but that's about it. The guy sent a photo and the engine cover shows as a Vortex 307. Hoping that's a good engine? We're really buying this because the kids are into wakeboarding, we mostly ski but I do some boarding too. We had a 1985 20ft. open bow Carerra with a Marine 454 motor in it for the past 10 years and sold it to "upgrade". It started everytime and I never had to "paddle" or get a tow so in short... I loved the boat. (actually sold it to my sister so it's still in the family.
My biggest fears are that we have not test driven it. I sent the guy a small deposit to hold it for us until we can drive down (7 hours one way) to pick it up this coming weekend. These boats seem to be snatched up pretty quick and it's in our price range so we needed to tie it up. We called the guy today to ask about some engine stuff (get a replacement impeller lined up) and he said he took it into the shop for some minor fixes (horn wouldn't work?) so I'm a little nervous.
We will be testing before buying. Not really sure how the TAPS is suppossed to feel when working. But, I assume I should be able to tell by the wake or bow riding strange. Anything to clue me in on it not working?
You can check the taps out of the water. Just turn the key and and have some one watch the plate in the back. It has a toggle switch on the throttle to move it up and down TAPS is just one centered trim tab.
It will be a good boat for wakeboaring and surfing, and skiing
Now that you can with this boat you will have to try surfing.
Yes, I confirmed through one of the photos and talking to the guy. Photo shows it is a vortec 307 and after some more research I found that it was an optional motor for that year. Are they good motors? I'm trying to do some research on them.
