Alternator Connections on a Marine Power 5.7 2005 Era

I bought a Mechman high output alternator for my 2005 24V with the Marine Power 5.7 340 HP. There is a wire that went to the old alternator that I can't remember where it went. It has a very unique boot shape and I am hoping someone knows what it's for and if I need it. The new alternator only has one two connections. A switched power to turn it on and the positive out to the battery/start solenoid. I have identified the switched power which is the purple wire from the original 2-pin connector. I just don't know what this other wire was for and if I need to connect it to something.

Reporting back with an answer to this question. It is the analog temp sensor wire. It connects to the block just above the spark plugs. It is bundled in with the switched hot for the alternator.
