You are making some serious progress. For the ghosts, I would recommend wet sanding with 2000 grit. Don't get the cheap stuff, but rather the 3M or equivalent. I bought the cheap Amazon sand paper and now I have to redo an entire side of my boat.

Took your advice, and spent some quality time (going REAL SLOW) with some 2000 grit 3M wet sanding on those areas. After the wet sanding I worked those areas again with a wool buffing wheel and 3M Heavy Cut (a more aggressive compound than the Perfect It EX). The combination of the two has just about eliminated the ghost lettering; now you need a bright LED light see any evidence of the prior letters.

There's a detailer on Youtube (Local boydidgood) that has a ton of detailing videos on his channel. Shows what works, and how to get stuff done effectively. I'm a lot slower than he is, but I'm also doing ONE boat. Check out his channel if you're interested.
