    1998 pre2150wt owners manual & TAPS info

    Hi guys,

im new to the forum, I just purchased a 1998 pre2150wt yesterday and was hoping to get a manual for it for some general understanding of the boat.

It has the older hydraulic TAPS system and it barely moves when I hit the switch. I’m having a hard time finding information about it so I’m hoping you guys can help.

Is there a reservoir for the TAPS system somewhere?

Also the Taps gauge was broken/missing when I bought it. I’m curious if there is a replacement for it, or if I can use a traditional trim gauge as a replacement.

    Thanks guys!

Congratulation on your purchase and welcome to the Tigé family. If it's a 2150 it should be a 97. 98 should be 2200i I believe.

You probably need to add ATF fluid to the pump reservoir. It is located behind the observer's seat under the carpeted box. Shine a flashlight against the reservoir to check the level. Remove a small rubber plug on top. Add ATF fluid and run it through its paces. You will need a very small funnel.

This thread for a TAPS gauge may help.

There is no real manual for the older boats. Mercruiser had a manual for their components Service Manual #17 1&2

      Thanks Mike, I appreciate that.

We are still having a hard time finding the reservoir. I don’t know if I’m just missing it or if it’s in a hidden location.

would you happen to know if the rear deck storage area opens up with a latch or switch? And if so, where the latch/switch is located?

This is what the pump look like. The actual reservoir is at the base. It is located underneath the carpeted box. You need to remove the carpeted box with 3 or 4 phillips screws.
