    '99 21v Riders Ed. just bought, ???

    Hi all,
    Newbie here -
Just sold my Malibu Echelon and just picked up a 99 21V Riders edition w/approx 500hrs on it. Not in too bad condition, I was able to get it out on the lake and test a few things. The major stuff seems to be fine.
My question is anyone know of any problems or issues I should look out for?

What engine is in your boat?

It's a 350 Merc w/MPI 315 hp. the block was replaced due to the previous owner not winterizing it properly. Runs and sounds great.

That's the same engine that I have in mine. I bought mine used with 200 hours on it. It now has over 400 and I have not had any major problems with mine at all.
Both of the elbows coming off of the water jackets developed small pinholes but they were easily fixed with JB Weld. I have had to replace my distributor cap and rotor. Other than those items, it has just been normal maintenance. I also run a tank with fuel injector cleaner thru my engine every year. I prefer Chevron Techron but they are all probably pretty much the same. Most of the fuel you buy at boat docks probably is not the cleanest fuel you can buy and running Techron thru the injectors will keep them and the rest of the fuel system clean.

          Thanks ghollow,
Had the same engine on my '94 Malibu, and never had any issues either (over 400hrs.) I think they are strong and reliable engines if well taken care of. I appreciate the repy and suggestions, after the purchase of the Tige, I feel more at ease w/ this forum!!
          Thanks again.....
