New owner questions! 03 22V Limited

    Good afternoon, everyone!

Just purchased my first Tige a few days ago. 03 22V limited with 369 hours on her. Apon getting her ready for the Texas summer I have began the process of replacing everything that cools the engine and lubricates it. Tho I have stumbled upon some questions that I can't seem to find the answers to.

    - Starting with the Metcrap towers. Are there any direct replacements for these towers where no holes will have to be filled or drilled? I love the cage look of the tower, but I really don't want to run into an issue where I break it and ruin a day on the water. Also I can't find the damn light that goes on top. Someone before me broke it off and glued it back together haha.

    - Docking lights... Has anyone found an LED replacement that is brighter? or even a direct replacement as mine are burnt out.

    - Tige Speed Control, Proper way to use this feature? Is this similar to a perfect pass?

    - Prestige Trailer, anyone know where to buy torsion hubs for one of these things? Im being quoted an outrageous amount of money to retro fit it with different axles and hubs.

    - Has anyone done any engine upgrades to the 350 Mercury MAG MPI? I found an upgraded alternator and K&N sells a nice spark arrestor, but beyond that I just got parts off a 1998 Tahoe that came with the 5.7 for way cheaper than mercury branded parts.

    - Who has replaced gauges and with what brand? Looking to spice up the dash a little bit.

I am working on an excel sheet with part numbers, prices, and links to buy things, if anyone has anything similar to post I would appreciate it! After I get her mechanically sound, I will be moving on to more ballast with a surf gate and a sound system! Super excited to start surfing!!!

Tower; thats the ok Metcrap but no, I doubt you would find one with the exact footprint outside of pure luck.

Docking lights; I dont know of an LED bulb but if you pull the bulb it should have a number on it that indicates the size and base. Check somewhere like Superbright LEDs for a green and red in that same number.

I think an 03 had perfect pass but with a "Tige" gauge.

As long as you are NOT using automotive electrical and ignition parts, you're good with them not being Merc brand. Napa stores close to lakes typically stock marine parts.

Let me know when you get down to ballast and audio.

Thank you for the information! I’ll check that out and yeah I’ll definitely only use the marine side for the electrical parts.

I’m definitely ready for the ballast part. The boat came with fat sacks but I’m not sure which ones. Port and send locker and the bow one for under the seats. I stripped the boat tho to clean it and check bags for leaks so when I get off work I’ll re install everything unless I can get larger bags. In that case I’ll order new and sell what I have CHEAP to someone looking to get started.

As for audio I’m going all JL.
      6- 6.5s
      1-12 sub
      2- 8.8 towers
And JL amps with a fusion head unit.
Will probably do 2 Lifepo4 batteries for the system and 2 Agm on the side. One for the house and one for the ignition. Throw in a dc/dc charger, upgraded the alternator already to a mechman, and new switches with an acr inline. Here are some more pic of the boat.

It looks like you do not have Perfect Pass cruise control.

I also added a Noco Genius 5x2 smart battery charger to our 2004 24V Limited. This charger is comparable with 12v Lead Acid, AGM & Lithium Batteries. You just select the battery type and you’re good to go. Being a smart charger it won’t charge the batteries if it’s over a certain temp or under a certain temp. When the batteries are fully charged it will go into a float mode and maintain them. In short it’s a plug in and forget about it. I drilled a 2” hole in the boat next to the cup holders and rear speakers down by your feet & mounted the charger on the back side of the battery compartment hatch.

That’s a clean rig man! I would keep those gauges… I have the same ones and they work well! I can’t imagine new ones are very cheap nor built as well.. but I could be wrong! How much did you pick that up for? I am trying to find a used trailer for my 2001 21V… Welcome to the forum. You are in great hands!

I love the color. Classic, but not old looking at all.

Congrats on the new Tige! Sounds like you’re diving right into getting everything sorted. For the tower, it’s a bit of a hit or miss finding an exact match without drilling new holes. Maybe someone in the community has had better luck with this. For the docking lights, I’ve had success swapping out old bulbs with LEDs from Superbright LEDs, as mentioned. They should have something that fits your existing fixtures. Regarding the Tige Speed Control, if it’s like Perfect Pass, you’ll find it super handy once you get the hang of it. It’s great for maintaining consistent speed for wakeboarding or surfing. For the trailer hubs, definitely shop around. Sometimes marine supply stores have better prices, or check online retailers for deals.

On the engine upgrades, it sounds like you’re on the right track. Just make sure everything is marine-rated for safety. For gauges, I’ve seen a lot of folks use Faria Beede or Livorsi Marine gauges for a nice upgrade.

Thank you for the advice! I need to figure out how to use the speed controller! As for the trailer I’m buying a new one. Has a crack in it
