Z3 Tige touch one, screen removal

Hello, I am about to pull the touch screen out to send it to MCI screens. I am looking for any information on pulling this unit out. I have a 2014 Z3. If anyone has tips or tricks, I would love the feedback....

It's a pretty easy job to be honest, I just got done doing mine on my 2013. I used a heat gun on the silver plastic bezel to help release the glue. I use a small 1" plastic putty knife to slide under the bezel and worked it back and fourth, up and down slowly. I was afraid of breaking the bezel so I did my best not to bend it much. With some heat and a little patience I got it off just fine. After doing it once I would recommend trying to dip the putty knife in some Isopropyl alcohol to see if it helps get it off a litter easer. Once the bezel is off there are just 4 philip screws that hold the whole unit and buttons in place. Then you will just push the assembly back into the dash, twist it and work out out. It a pretty easy job.

I did the DIY kit form MTC screens and the replacement went smooth as well. Plan about 20-40 minutes for it, length just depends on how much glue leaded out of your old screen.

I have my screen done and re mounted I'm just playing with how I'm going to try reusing the old bezel. The back of the bezel is a adhesive foam that got a little damaged during remove. I plan on cleaning the old glue off the dash with Iso alcohol and trying some double sided tape and or a little spray adhesive to hold it back on. I can get some photos later today if you would like.

      Hope this helped.

Did the screen correct your problems?

If you’re asking me yes the new screen worked. My issue with the old one was delimitation. I wasn’t having any touch issues yet but didn’t want to wait for more problems to arise so that’s why I changed it out this winter.

Thanks, Travis. I did the same thing you did. Now I have the screen back, ready to put it back in. I spoke to a dealer about attaching the bezel; they suggested using 3M double-sided tape. I am trying to find a replacement before I stick the old one back on. I just reached out to this company: https://u-p.com
I will let you know what I find out.

Mine began delaminating several years ago, but I had zero functionality issues with it until suddenly last summer. One day in August I go out and the system starts freezing up. When that happens I have to hit the power button and reboot the system. I uploaded the system with the latest update but it did not help. It never got better the remainder of the season, I'm dreading to see what happens when I fire up this spring for the first time. I'm prepared to replace the system with switches but would like to keep the touch if possible. I had to have a sequence for boarding in the morning, fill the ballast first and cruise control last that way I don't have to reboot and loose the cruise to shut off the ballast fill. When mine locks up, nothing works, not just a particular area of the screen. Seems to me to be more of a software issue, but I don't know.

I'm not positive but I would presume a new screen would fix the issues. If there it delamination on your screen it could be causing it to lock up. Not an expert on it. I would ask MTC screens about it.
