So I can't find the thread about what lots of weight does to the transmission. I know it was talked about before but any words of wisdom?

I'm not familiar with boat or v drive applications so I'm not sure if they make larger clutch packs for the v drive. That would be the only way to gain more "holding" power from the v drive. IMO a larger cooler will not help with longevity in a boat application, and may even shorten it's lifespan.Bad decisions make good stories.

My tranny is still solid after4 years of our own surfing and a few years from the previous owner surfing and boarding with about 1500lbs of ballast.Joey - Red 20V Riders Edition

Hopefully the guy rebuilt your trans properly, personally I would be very sceptical based on the advise you were given.Bad decisions make good stories.
