    New Mystery

Ok so I have tinkering lately trying to get my bilge as water tight as possible. I have noticed water leaking around the speedo paddle wheel so I decided to pull it off today and reseal it.

This is what I found when I pulled it off. I prolly got 2+ gallons out of it and the drain plug was dry in the bottom of the bilge

Any thoughts. I would think that any water would make to the low spots and this is not one. Oh ya some else did a great job mounting before.

Whats behind it? Id go look at mine but its in storage and wont have it till tomorrow.

It should be something you should just be able to see if you look down past the motor

IIRC, on my 05 24V, the stringers ran the entire length of the boat and could essentially seal the port and starboard side from the center, unless the water was deep enough to go over the top of the stringer. So I guess water could have gotten in that side and not been able to get to the center part of the bilge. Might be one potential explanation.

Thats what I was thinking. Probably the same on the other side. You would think there would be a place for it pass through though. This is right below the second battery box. I would have pull out the battery and shelf it sits on to see down in there.

I guess a couple of gallons is not to bad but I would rather have dry.

Are you sure you cant see it if you look down at an angle from the engine compartment?

Ok so I called Harvey @ Tige. This is a seal compartment that is mostly filled with foam. Water was getting into it from the the 2 screws holes. I did notice my boat was listing a bit to the starboard side. I tried draining it some more but cant get anymore water out of it and the list seems to be gone. It has been sealed now. My only other option would be to drill a hole in the bottom and let it drain then have it repaired of course. I feel satisfied the have the problem and will periodically check it for water. The only thing I can think of is that the former owner had removed the paddle wheel and not sealed it up properly. The wire carrying the signal to the speed goes through the transom above the floor and it was leaking water into my bilge. For now the bilge is dry and everything is good for another day.
