    FAE Support Bar Modifications

I wasn't really comfortable boring out part of my swim step & didn't want the rattling or have to use gaskets like Guapo so I cut it to length & welded a plate 1/2" deep into the end than tapped and threaded it.

It makes it much more sturdy & easy to assess with only drilling holes in the swim platform supports.

I will post more pics of the finished project once the quick disconnects show up tomorrow.

When your done stop by and do mine. Wait I need a FAE first, dang it.

Jeff...I like that solution a lot. I'll see how mine does this season and might do what you did over the winter. Very nice.

I felt the same way you did about boring out fiberglass.
I found a zinc wedge anchor that had a slightly larger OD than the inside of the tube. I flatten the four sides of the anchor and it fit tightly in the tube.

I thought my install was totally trick, that was, till I saw your method Jeffe.

        Great Solution

            Well done!

I expect to see these mass produced and offered in the classifieds soon.

nicely done, Dr. Mann might be interested in incorporating that idea as drilling into the swim platform was a big deal for me also. I attached mine to the ladder bracket.

I don't lnow if the distance between the brackets vary from boat to boat. I had to cut about an inch off.

If they were all uniform it would be easy to mass produce.

I did the same thing with mine, but just used a couple of expansion plugs inside the tube ends.
