What is this?

Digging around the rear section of my bilge near the exhaust/rudder in my 05 22i and found this. Any ideas what it is and where it came from? Always fun to find things 6 years later that you've never seen before....

That looks to be a screen of some sorts. Maybe to help prevent kayakers from getting sucked in.

In all seriousness I would guess a screen for a livewell or maybe an air intake. Though I can not say I ever saw one of those when I had my 22i.

Looks like the screen on the the older style round Rule bilge pumps
