I unhooked my boat from the car and when I pulled out I heard a snap. Apparerntly I had forgotten to unhook the emergency brake cable from my car. I compeltely pulled the cable out of the trailer. I don't know what I need to do for the brakes and how to fix the cable. Any advice helps!! I have an Extreme Trailer and it is a 2000. Any help is greatly appreciated.

What hitch is your Extreme trailer equipped with?
Last year I rebuilt my 1999 Extreme trailer surge brakes (disc) along with the hydraulic actuator (coupler), both manufactured by UFP. Good information at their website...http://www.ufpnet.com/
If you pulled out the entire safety cable, you will need to dissassemble the actuator and restring the cable. This is not an easy task for those nmechanically challenged. Page 25 of the following information shows the routing for a UFP A-60 break away cable. Extreme Engineering typically uses UFP trailer parts. http://www.ufpnet.com/Portals/0/PDFs/A-60,%2075%20_%2084%20Actuator%20Maintenance.pdf[/URL]
Good Luck...

PS - don't forget to reset the actuator pushrod, which is likely set in the emergency on position, locking your brakes.

Send it to the trailer shop for repair!!!
I put a new Back-up solinoid in a few years ago and it was a lot harder than it looked at first. I thought I put it all back together correctley but I had trouble with the brakes the next season. It really had me wondering if I did it right or not. I ended up getting 2 blowouts in the same trip because the brakes were sticking and overheated everything. It turned out to be bad pistons in the brake calipers. Second guessing myself was the worst part. Taking it to the shop bought me peace of mind...priceless
