    good speaker covers wanted

I bought a pair of speakersox covers a couple years ago and was surprised by how thin and cheap feeling they were. For the money I thought they would be much more heavy duty. I will say that they are still covering the speakers even though the red color is now pink. It looks like screamin covers has about the same product. Somebody has to make a better product for a decent price. Any ideas who or where???

Red is a hard color to stand up to UV rays. Other then the fading, are they holding up?

Get some Rit dye and freshen them up.

I also have a set of pink speakersox! I was informed that red is one of the fastest fading colors so I ordered a second set to use when I'm on the lake, the pink set is just for storage to keep the speakers clean. I would talk to Jim about a second set if the color bothers you like it did me. The material itself seems to be holding up well as a side note.

Where would I find Rit dye and would that stain the white plastic around the speaker grills?

I don't mess with them that much but I think they are holding up well except for the color.

Grocery store, in the laundry soap isle. It's supposed to be washing machine safe once done.

Can you send me photos of your speaker covers? My boat sits in the sun a lot and want to make speaker covers and maybe a wake tower cover.

I tried the dye and it did not work no matter how much I used or how long I let it soak.

Out of curiosity and the final straw before throwing them out was to spray paint them. I was amazed at the outcome. You would never know even after touching it. I did several light coats so it stayed flexible. I wrapped a coffee can to keep it's shape while painting.

I think the paint job has lasted longer than the original dye.

I like speakersox. I just keep them on most of the time, music can play right through them. I consider the lightweight feel an advantage.
I had some pink ones too, although not nearly as pink as some people's because my boat sits in a garage when not in use.
                        Be excellent to one another.

Correct me if I'm wrong but speakers sox are designed so thar you can play music while they are on, so they would be a thinner , more like a speaker grill in your house. Doesn't wet sounds also make a neoprene cover too.

I haven't paid any attention to mine since painting them 2 years ago. Seeing this post made me take a look to see how they were holding up. They still look good and the paint will probably last another year or two even though it sits out year round. I think red or any other dark color fabric will fade fast. I know it sounds hoaky but the paint looks way better than faded fabric and it was easy for me since my speakers were the same size as a coffee can.

I used to take the covers off when using the boat but last year I left them on and the music was fine. No muffle through the fabric (and paint)
