Screw holes - Butyl tape or something else needed?

What exactly is the hull of the Tige 2004 20v Switch made of? I mean, I know it's fiberglass, but is it pure fiberglass all the way through? Or is there something else sandwiched between fiberglass? If it is fiberglass all the way through, then is it needed to wrap Butyl tape around screws when screwing into it or using some other way to stop water intrusion? I would think the answer is no because from my understanding, you wrap Butyl tape to prevent water intruding into the wood that is incased inside the fiberglass, but if there is no wood inside it, then is it safe to just pre-drill and screw right in, with no Butyl tape or anything like that needed to water seal it?

I dont think an 04 had any wood, all composite stringers and fiberglass The hull itself is not a cored hull, but some boats are. A cored hull has an outside and inside layer of fiberglass, with a core material in between. If you screw through the hull, it will come out the other side, if the screws is long enough. The transom is likely the thickest part and where the build pump mounts, is likely the thinnest. So you need to be careful screwing into the hull. With a cored hull, its best practice to make a larger hole and fill it with a 2 part epoxy, then screw into the bedded epoxy.

What are you mounting, and where are you looking to mount it.

Thank you chpthril for the reply! It's more a general question to gain understanding. Also, I should have said screwing into the floor because I will most likely be screwing into the floor instead of the actual hull. I did already screw into the floor to add flanges on which to mount the 3" flex duct coming from the air vents under the windshields, so inside the locker in front of the helm and in front of the same location on the passenger's side of the helm there is a 3" duct with a hole in the floor where the duct takes air from slit openings in the windshield down to under the boat, I screwed flanges into the floor on which to mount these since all that was there before was a hole in the floor and the duct kept coming off. I did not use any butyl tape when I did this. Then I saw a YouTube video describing the method for screwing snaps onto the floor and the guy said to wrap the screws in butyl tape so I was wondering if I made a mistake by screwing into the floor without butyl tape.
