I just bought a used boat. It's a 2004 20V Switch. This is my first boat and I am totally pumped about it. One thing I do not like though is the carpet, to be honest, it's pretty disgusting. I am looking at options to replace it, Seadek, Deckadence, or the like. My big question right now is what kind of prep should I be prepared to do in order to get the floor ready for one of these products? Is it as simple as tearing out the old carpet, cleaning the floor really well and then laying down the Seadek, or throughing the Deckadence flooring in there right over the existing floor, or is there more to it than that? I mean, all the pictures I look at of boats that have Seadek have this nice white looking level floors under the Seadek before they install it. I have not pulled all the carpet up yet, but I have seen a few spots and it is definately not white or covered in anything that is smooth and level. So do I need to smooth it out and cover it with something like gelcoat or some other substance to get it ready for a new floor like Seadek or Deckadence?

I did this to my 2005 22v. This thread should give you some good info, it's what I used as a guide.
