2021/22 Z3 vent concern

We own a 2013 Z3, and are considering the new z3. Anyone share my concern about the engine compartment/blower vent layout and location? When walking through my dealer's z3 I kept thinking about kicking that upper plate and cutting a foot when coming in off the swim deck.

I agree, however, Malibu and Supra have had this location for years..
