2 Rollovers on the 40 caused by tire blowout and an idiot

We had front row seets for this accident last summer. The left rear tire blew. He slid sideways and as soon as his tire hit the dirt he rolled about 5 or 6 times. Scary thing is, he was driving the same speed as all the rest of us.

Here is the idiot part. While we were waiting for the ambulance, a looky loo drove off the other side of the road and rolled her Jeep a couple times. I was in my boat putting the 1st aid kit away when I heard her scream and saw her body half way out the driver window as her car was airborne and rolling. Luckily everyone was wearing their seatbelts and nobody was ejected.

Wow. Cant believe she survived after being snapped around like a rag doll. I have witnessed several tow vehicle blow outs with interesting results but no rollovers...and hope I never do.

My sympathy goes out to both drivers but especially the first.

I hate to ask but what was the first vehicle. I cannot tell looking at wreck picture.

It is good to hear that no fatalities.

Luckily we have not had tow vehicle blowouts but have lost trailer tire on right side 3 times in 5 years. It was a single axle trailer and we were blowing tires because of limited use and dry rot. Every time I put the spare on after it was 3 years old the tire would blow that season. They were Goodyear Marathons. I now run Caryles and now I inspect them before any trip but especially 600 mile plus marathons. I so far in three years have found two bad Carlyle tires where inside side wall had formed large bubbles. Carlyle drop shipped replacements both times and now if boat is going to sit for a while it is jacked up and put on concrete blocks.

We had a 2006 Expedition for two tow seasons and although we liked it when not towing I hated it towing. Before the Expedition we had a Durango and the rear end hop when towing just aggravated me to no end. The Expedition was almost the opposite. The rear end in ours felt mushy going around turns in the hills of Missouri. If you don't run 75 you will get run over by trucks on I44 so when heading downhills and into a turn at bottom of hill the back end just felt wrong and I won't say scared me but my copilot looked like a ghost. And this was towing a single axle trailer with a small 19ft FourWinns which was not anywhere near as heavy as the Tige. My brother in-law had a Tahoe and we borrowed it for a couple of weekend jaunts and went with an 08 model that was a steal from Carmax when they were selling new vehicles in Kenosha,WI. It is equipped nicely with zoned heat and air for front seats and a separate zone for the back. It does not have third row seats which for us is good because of the Labs and being empty nesters the DVD screen is kind of useless.
