    22v Taps actuator help

2004 22v lenco electric taps actuator sounds like it is grinding itself up inside, it will move up only if you give it a helping hand, move down sometimes on its own.
Number stamped on the body will not match up with anything on google. A few post here lead me to Lenco Aftermarket Part # 15057-001, I do have a question into Tige's "contact us", but was hoping someone here can lead me to an answer faster, weekends coming and weather is looking awesome for surfing, wouldn't worry about it much as i surf with taps at 6 or 7 but wife likes her wave with taps at 2 (she rides skim and i ride surf).

    Thanks!

I'm not near my boat to check my actuator but that is the same actuator I ordered for my tabs on Amazon with free returns. I'd just order it and return it if it turns out to be the wrong actuator.

Curious about your Ballast and devises you use when surfing. My setup is evolving alot this year on my 22v and feel I need to start looking into more bow weight. I'm usually 3-4 on taps and think my boat would struggle at 6-7.

Good point on returns- I am going to measure when i get home to get overall length as i come up with a 15054-001 as well, ne is 12" or so and the other is 10" or so. Thanks!

You sir i on target with bow weight. We make our best wave with:
Port locker about 1400lbs bag and lead.
Starboard right around 600lbs could go up to 800 depending on amount of people (boat likes a list)
and bow gets around 1300 lbs total between bags and lead, when i put that much weight up front its usually just 2-3 adults in the boat.
For me i have taps around 6-7, for wife 2-3.
Speed 10.7 to 11.5, all depends on wind people who is surfing and what they are surfing on... I surf on a undersized Chaos sixer cause its a 4-6 and im fat! so i like a lot of push in the wave, if she surfs my wave it is way to much push.
a Swell wake shaper goas right above the ledge with the rear suction cup inline with bilge thru hull. Lot of people say lower ledge and as far back as you can go, i find or at least think it has more push in my location.
Next time out i am going to measure swim deck for how under the water it is and pitch and roll to see if these numbers make it so i can repeat waves instead of tuning on the fly.

Also run a 1617 prop, my wave is right around 3300 RPM hers right below 3100 RPM.
Pic is her wave, she is 5-9.

If you happen to be goofy then your in real luck, we finally got our autistic son to give surfing a try and he loves it, he is a darkside rider but dang it is easy to make a wave over there- this shot is 900 lbs starboard, maybe 300 port, 600 in front and shaper port side low and back, 11.2 with taps at 1-2... he is 5-8. RPMS right at 3k

Aspidaso use the chart and stamped code on your actuator and it will get you what you need

Thanks for sharing your setup, wakes look great. In the past I ran same prop and shaper location but not nearly the bow weight. What are you using for bow bags and lead?

Looking at the two actuators you listed, 15057-001 does not have the same rod end as what is on my 22v taps but 15054-001 does.

i might greet this present day with love in my coronary heart for this is the greatest secret of sucess in all ventures. muslces can split a shelled and even to attempt life. however most effective the unthinkalbe electricity of love can open the hearts of guys. and utill i grasp this art, i'm able to stay no extra than a padller in a marketplace area. i will make love my finest weapon, and none on whom i call can protect towards its pressure. my reasoning they will counter, my speech they will distrust, my garb they will disprove, my face they'll reject, and even my bargins may additionally cause them suspicion.yet my love will now not all hearts liken to the solar whose raise sofens the coldest clay. headformost i will look on all things with love, and that i will be born once more. i can love the solar for it warms my bones ,yet i will love the rain for it cleans my spirit. i will love the light for it shows me the manner, but i will love the darkness for it suggests me the stars. i will welcome happiness for it enlarges my coronary heart, yet i'm able to bear unhappiness for it opens my soul. i will well known rewards for they're my do, but i will welcome limitations for they are my demanding situations.

I am the original owner of a 2003 22v, and my taps system failed June 2019. Mine was the actuator....

There are only two wires to the actuator itself and you can connect them to a battery to move it. Connecting wires one way moves the actuator one way, reversing the leads reverses the actuator. The design is such that you need not worry about overrunning the limits, as the actuator itself has preset limits and cannot be damaged by overrun. I cut the wires to the actuator back by the transom and was able to test power going to the actuator with a volt meter to validate power was available and the problem was with the actuator.

The actuator is made by Lenco, and is not a stock Lenco unit, but Lenco will make one to order. That’s what I did. The Lenco actuator part number is 20740-002, and I ordered one through West Marine.

While waiting for the new actuator, I disassembled my old one. Water had gotten into it and the innards were “crudded up”. But the motor drew current so I figured it might work. I cleaned it all up, regressed the gears, reassembled, and tried it out on the bench. It worked! It’s sitting on a shelf in my garage as an emergency spare.

isaac and Freewheel, Thanks! I did order one from Amazon, dimensions the same, same stroke with free return so we shall see, if that doesn't work I will go with the special order per Isaac. I did tear it down last night, ballscrew outer jacket is slipping, if you help it by hand it will go. Couldn't figure out how the ball screw outer jacket is help from slipping so the old one is a lost cause, but the motor and gears are in great shape so if anyone has a actuator with a burnt motor or stripped gears I could take it or could ship you the motor or gears to get you going. Tearing them down is pretty easy.

cucv - your wife won't like this! But i have 200 lbs in lead right under the cup holders and 750lbs IBS (estimate around 400lbs in it) and then stick a 800lbs bag in the walkway (added a 3 way with positional valve to the front pump so i can fill IBS then if i use the walkway bag, just set in place turn valve and hook up hose and go) , l put about a 1/4 of it on the fwd seat, so i can get 1400 lbs up there if needed, when i do it turns the boat into a barge and just plows the whole hull thru the water..and drops RPMS, can make a good wave without but i feel with at least 1k up front the push in wave is doubled, wife hates it because she cant stay off the swim deck with all the push.

15057-001 differs from the rods in my taps too.

Recently, I ordered a Lenco 15054-001 Actuator for my 2003 22v from Amazon. Thought it might be helpful to view a side/side comparison with original actuator on my 22v. The only part number I was able to make out on the original actuator was 100A09. Hard to tell, but, the 9 could also be a 0. Dimensions for the length, pin hole diameters, pin hole centerline to centerline, etc, are the same. The only differences I found dimensionally were between the main housing end caps and the lower housing diameters (See pics). The end caps on the 15054-001 were slightly thicker. This may just be structural to accommodate the change from threaded studs to pan head hex screws for attaching the end cap to the main housing. The impact is a slightly longer main housing assembly. The individual main housing lengths were virtually identical, surely within the desired design specs anyway. In the pictures the 15054-001 is on the left.

Thanks for the pics! I ordered and received the 15054-001, just waiting to get back to the lake (boat kept there) to install and test. Interesting that a 2003 had the top bracket mounted to the back of the transom, 2004, mine is mounted to the under side of the ledge. Anyone know what Tiges intended angle of the taps plate when fully deployed (taps 1)?

I just so happen to be heading out surfing now, just measured it, 10 degrees down fully extended, 15 degrees up retracted.

Excellent! Thank you. We surfed last weekend, i set the old actuator at fully deployed and never wired it back up so it would stay there, added a few hundred extra lbs in the back and wave was close to norm, excited to get new actuator on and try with a full load of people, we typically ballast up max, start with taps 1 and once surfer is up and boat to 11.2 set taps based on what rider wants, she likes the easy transition in the wave i like a steep one.
