    Recent purchase with some questions

    Hello,

I just purchased a 2006 24ve. The boat sat for a few years before I purchased. I had the dealer run through and it was good to go.

The steering is very tough turning left and fairly easy to turn right. I found a few forums with this discussion but want to get some ideas.

    1) is this common and not related to cable, can I lubricate it

    2) should I replace the steering cable and will that even solve the problem?

    3) any other recommendations?

Neutral recognition for starting. We had it on the lake for a few days and one day it wouldn’t start or turn. I knew it was some electrical component, and checked everything I could. Eventually I realized it was the throttle, and I pushed it slightly forward and it turned over. Sometimes I need to get if some extra revs to keep it running without engaging the propeller.

is there a simple solution to fixing the throttle to recognize its in neutral? What would cause the need to rev to keep it running at startup?

I have a few other questions I’ll save for later, just want to get going and learn more about this new to me purchase!

    thanks in advance!

    Replace the cable.

And sounds like Idle RPMs may need to be adjusted. Dealer should be able to hook up to diacom to adjust.

Given the cost and the fact it's not an overly a hard DIY job, I'd just recommend replacing the cable altogether. It's only going to get worse and you can't really lubricate them anyway.
