    Newb-Need used Tige guidance

Hi, Nweb here needing guidance about buying a used Tige. Looking at 1995 2002 FSLM. Boat looks to be in great shape 320 hrs. Monster Tower, etc. Guy is asking $11500. What do you all think? I had a MC Prostar 190 previously, how will this compare? Thanks for all info and opinions!

What are you looking for in a boat? Totally slalom? If so, that boat will rock. If anything more, such as wakeboarding, prolly not so much.

Touch and feel everything. All controls, switches, gadgets, vinyl, clasps, etc. Make sure that just cause it looks pretty doesnt mean it is going to take a crap right after you buy it.

That seems like not many hours at all for a 1995. How long has it sat? Engines that sit that long might have seal problems amongst other things. Where do you live? If a cold climate, was it winterized every year properly? Hairline cracks are very tough to detect.

Can you get a good long water trial on it? I would strongly recommend this!!

That price seems quite high. Check other listings to make sure it is not outlandish. I would think somewhere in the area of 7500 would be more comfortable to me (especially in this market.)

I've got a boat quite similar to that...the 2000 SLM (20' closed bow). Its perfect for me, as I am just a kid trying to have some fun on the water. With the help of this boat we have really moved away from the wakeboard scene, and really grown a liking to skiing. We've tried to weight down the boat and wakeboard, but it is still by no means puts out a wake like some of the newer boats (so I rarely even bother with it anymore). Also the freeboard and bow sit very low in the water, its easy to take on water if your not paying attention. Other than that its been an awesome boat.

I don't have a family so room isn't that big of an issue, but any more that 5 aboard its quite crammed. I've got a 1995 with almost 600 hours (bought for 8k two years ago with 510 hours, but only a ski pole). I think this boat will be a lot like the old MC.

I think 11.5k is a little high, but it depends on where you are and what condition your in. Also he's trying to sell it in the prime season...just as boating season is beginning.

I live in South Texas and will using the boat mostly in the Austin area. This is a fairly good price for the area. I am going to try and talk him down some. It has the TAPS system on it as well.

I ALWAYS shoot a low offer, you never know his situation.

Also another thing to make sure looks good is the trailer! Look at the condition its in, rust, welds, brakes, swing away pins, back yard modifications.

I only say this from personal experience...loosing my boat & trailer going 60 on the hwy (due to backyard modifications and a swing away hitch). After that I was looking for a replacement trailer, $5-$8k.
