    Water Pump help

I fired the boat up last weekend and noticed the water pump leaking from the rear. I decided to just order a new one and matched the Johnson number with a company on eBay. The pump arrived today and it's exactly the same except for missing an extra outlet. I emailed the company and they said for a 2006 24VE with the MPE 5.7 they sent the right pump. What is the extra port cooling? is it necessary? I would rather order a new pump as opposed to rebuilding, I don't have a press. Can anyone give me some guidance or dealt with this before?

My old pump says F6B9. waterpump.jpg

An 06 Ve 5.7 would have been a Marine Power 340. Did your info come from Marine Power? The extra fittings could be for a heater or washdown pump.

I need to crawl back in there and look where the extra line is going but after doing some googling I found an F6B-9 Johnson Pump that looks like mine and says it also has a "coolant supply." This is from Marine Power Depot. I ordered this one, hopefully I get it right this time. I don't have a heater and have not seen a wash down pump anywhere. Weird.

Pretty sure the water line goes straight of the pump and supplys the coiled metal line for the fuel cooler.

Remove fitting, and drill and tap a whole I'm the new one. Will be an NPT tap.

What freeheel said, it's the cooling supply line for the fuel pump. You could also plumb in a fitting to a pressure side hose (off the drain for the trans cooler for example) but up to you.

            Hey Guys,

I got the new pump and just finished install. The good news is it's not leaking, bad news is it's wobbling. The last pump was shaking violently with water leaking from the bearings and i realized it was not mounted to the support arm. I found the rubber grommet in the back of the boat and was able to bolt the new pump with a few washers (and a lock washer). Is a little bit of movement normal? Please take a look and let me know. I tried to upload an iphone video but apparently it's not allowed. I really appreciate the help.

Yes, a little movement is normal but the least amount of movement is what you truly want. There should be a shoulder on the water pump mounting flange that locates inside the center of the crankshaft pulley. Loosen the pump bolts and see if you can center it better, it looks like Michael J. Fox right now.
