Lake Powell Hot Spots out of Wahweap?

So we're heading to Powell again this year and we are going to be launching out of Wahweep instead of Bullfrog Marina like we normally do. The only problem now is we have no idea where to go to find some tasty buttery ridin?? Out of bullfrog we know as soon as you hit escalante that you can find any number of amazing spots to pull off and find glass water all day long. Now that we're going into uncharted territory for our group we are looking for a little help from somebody that maybe has some experience from that side of the lake.

Anybody have any good spots that they're willing to reveal? Even a mile marker turnoff would be helpful. Just looking for any input that might steer us down an awesome cove that would have possibility of giving us some glass to shred every day.

How far are you willing to drive?

Will you be camping in a houseboat you can take up the lake?

When are you going? I will be there June 6-10. I might get there this weekend, with a little luck.

The first place I would go is the north end of Warm Creek Bay. It is close and often has good water. LovinPowell loves going there. I usually like to go up a little further where there is some better scenery, but Padre Bay and its side canyons seem to attract lots of Wallys.
    Be excellent to one another.

Most likely you will need to be willing to go past Padre Bay to get past the crowds.

We are going for 7 days 6/6-6/12, and have two houseboats and two wakeboats. Definitely willing to go far, whatever it takes for good water. Initially thinking Last Chance and Rock Creek Bays.

Last Chance and Rock Creek will be pretty decent. The challenge is that they are pretty rocky and there are limited sandy shores. Last year I was very impressed with Last chance in terms of good water. Looks like we will be there at the same time. Look for the red and white X45. PM sent.

Dungeon Canyon at around mile marker 38.5 is a sweet canyon to park the houseboat. Lots of places nearby for butter and Dangling rope is right up the way a couple of miles. Last year we hit Gunsight canyon because of time constraints and it turned out to be a nice spot. It's close to Antelope Marina and we had good water. If you have 5 to 7 days I would go up to Dungeon or around there.

Diesel, off subject sorry, did you join that private lake up north again this year?

You bet, we are with the same club again. Timmy joined the club on the North West side. I rode two weekends ago in a wetsuit top only and it was fine.

I have gone to Warm Creek many times without the houseboat and had a great time every day.
With a houseboat, I have stayed in Last Chance Bay once and twice in Wetherill Canyon. I will have to take a closer look at Dungeon Canyon next time (thanks Micah).

There was a good thread about this. Maybe Micah could add a better description of his spot with some pictures to the thread?

Team Allen, RID22, aka "nuckin futs" could probably answer that bettter than I could. I just tag along when I can. Diesel, what's the drive time to your lake from south Denver? Is it worth the price to avoid Chopfield or Cherry Creek?

I went out Sunday and the water has cooled down a bit but wasn't bad in a 4/3 wetsuit. Water temp was 56, air temp 70. It takes some getting used to. I wasn't ready to be able to wakeboard until my arms are numb and then still have surfing too. Last time I did that was at Powell. I can't believe how many Tige's are on this lake, must be 20+!

We went up the Escalante (spelling?) and found some great spots when I was there, not sure if that helps you out or not.

ITs right at an hour from my place near E470 and Hampden to pulling up to my trailer at the lake. And yes, its well worth it. I show up on a Friday off, and I'm one of 4 boats out there on a lake twice the size of Chatfield. IF your out Monday-Thursday, you'll be the only boat. Weekends are not bad at all. You get spoiled quick.

When we go out of bullfrog we make a B-line to Escalante because its so nice. But its ~25 miles from bullfrog and would be ~65 miles from Wawheap.

Well, we did have snow and cold for an entire week so I wasn't sure. My buddy said that mother's day weekend it was warmer than this past weekend.
