    Loud 25ZX

Got my new 25ZX out for the first time this evening. Love the boat, size, fit/finish. However, it seems unusually loud. This is my first boat with the FAE and it is by far the loudest boat I have owned. My boat has the 440 and my previous Z3 had the PCM 409. There is no comparison as to which one is loudest. At first I thought it was just me but once I got it up to speed my wife said “is it supposed to be this loud?” Thoughts?

The raptor engines are significantly louder than the gm models found with pcm. Was out on a 25ZX with the 460 today and it wasn’t bad but definitely not super quiet, with the 440 it will probably be louder as it’s working harder.

I know people have added insulation to the motor which supposedly helps, lots of it is transmission noise too.

What noise are you hearing? Where do you hear the noise coming from? The engines are just loud. There can also be a very loud high pitched hum from the vdrive. You're likely hearing a bit of both. Might be worth trying to get in a few other similar boats to see if you're hearing the normal noise level or if something may be wrong with your boat. All raptors are loud, but not all boats with raptors are loud. Be glad you didn't get a Moomba. I was close till I test drove two of them. Very loud.

My SA was loud as well (raptor 400)
Some Noico 80 on the transmission tunnel and engine hatch made a very big difference.
I've got more delivered yesterday to do the whole floor.
Plus the stuff is heavy so free ballast
My boat is virtually silent now under 2500rpms. Guy at the dock the other day asked if it was electric lol

Would the Noico adhesive hold up in a doghouse of a 22i?

Sound is definitely coming from the motor. I had no idea these raptor motors were that loud. Definitely not pleasant. Sonic thanks for the info on the Noico. I will give that a try.

I think he was asking is it coming from the motor or the vdrive?
Is it just general motor noise or is it a high pitched whine?

We placed the NOICO in our old Z3. Found out the hard way it doesn't do well in the Arizona Heat (along with the engine heat). Just a warning.

That’s not good to hear. Definitely gets a little warm hear in TX.

To be fair, I didn't place the tape they recommend around every edge. That's where it got messy.

Weird, I have had zero issues. It's in my boat and my RV, even in the generator compartment that gets ridiculously hot.
                            I'm not in AZ though.

So I spoke with my dealer and sounds like this may be a know issue with a batch of v drives. More to come...
