    prop choice

So I hit the water for the 1st time this year, I called Acme about a new prop. They suggested a 653 for my 2000 21i. We didn't have any ballast at this point we were just wakeboarding.

Hole shot was awesome, and boat ran fine w/ new prop. My question is the RPM's were really high compared to my 4 blade skiing prop. 35mph = 4700-5000rpms's and this was close to wide open. 22mph = 3200rpm's. Within 1 1/2 hrs of wakeboard (no ballast) went through about 1/4-3/8 tank of gas (hard to tell w/ my gas gauge)

Does this seem ok? Would this be to much torque for my transmission?

    Thanks

I must add, I had someone w/ me today that was doing flips so the wake must have been ok, never seen this behind my boat before.

Pitching down does increase RPM, as it's equivalent to a rear end gear change in a car.

Where do you go out w/ your boat? I use to live in St. Pete and Seminole before I got transferred in '93. Coming down on June 29 to see family on our way to Universal.

Votes go to Lake Tarpon. Lake Seminole and salt water is out. 2 years ago I couldn't get them to go to Lake Tarpon because of Alligators. A lot of fokes had to leave FL to find work, and it's getting worse. We'll be on Lake Tarpon July 2nd and 3rd for my son's birthday. Don't forget to buy everyone a personal water bottle fan cooler before you hit Universal.

My first apartment was on Lake Seminole in the 80's, at the end near Park Blvd right on the water. I had houses off of 7th ave by the SPJC college & up off 86th ave and Starkey on the back side of the lake. We used to ski out there all the time. We had 3 gator's that stayed outside our apartment in the weeds. Never been to Lake Tarpon. Grandma use to live in Tarpon Springs.

Have you ever been to Pappas restaurant in Tarpon Springs? Don't know if it still there. We use to go there a lot. I only got a sister left down there.

How long have you lived down there?

GET OUT! I lived at the "Village On Lake Seminole" condo's (7a) from 1885 thru 1990, which was probably next door to you. I forget the name of those apartments next to us????? Lake Tarpon is full of gators. The memories of the kids tell me they would NEVER go to Lake Tarpon are permanetly etched forever. Today, it's ONLY Lake Tarpon, including the younger girls, and my Nephew from PA. What's nice about Tarpon is the water depth....average is 10 to 12 feet, which makes for an ideal surf wake, and of course a better overall wake for boarding.

Same here.....my family all moved to Fl and then they all left for better jobs.

Been in FL since 84, from Detroit. Couldnt' make a living so I went into business for myself.

Where do you live in NC?

Sorry but Papas Restaurant closed up. It was truly a legend. The original owner died, the kids took over and it went down hill. Most all of the legend restaurants from the 80's are now gone.

Lake Seminole needs to be dredged IMO. which would make it 2 or 3 feet deeper all around. Someday maybe??

Live in Winston Salem. If I remember right isn't the VOLS condo's up the lake on the left side? I lived there in late '83 to about '86 I guess. That was my 1st time out of the house, when Elena came and sat 55 miles off the coast. I wouldn't go home so we went to the funeral home below the HS out on 131st. I do miss it sometimes. I remember a guy used to run a Yellow and Red drag boat on lake Seminol from time to time, ever seen him out there.

I used to run from New Port Richey (when nothing was up there) to south St. Pete. We used to do a lot wind surfing back then. We went up to Belleair Bluffs, back then you could still drink and have fires on the beach.
