Speedometer stuck on Zero suggestions?

    Speedometer stuck on Zero suggestions?

    So was out wake boarding using my speed set and all of a sudden speedometer seemed like it got stuck. My son smacked it and it started working but now it’s stuck at zero again. It moves a little when I hit it but just does not go up anymore. Is there a pitot or some area I should clean out? Is it air pressure that makes this speedometer work? I have a 2013 R20. Any ideas or where I go to clean it out would be appreciated.

    Could be a bad gauge. I had that happen on my tachometer. Watched a video on YouTube where a guy drill a small hole in the side bezel of his and then used a small tool to work the needle gently back and forth a dozen times. On the video it worked out well. In my case I sold the boat and boat a new one.

      Speedo is electrically driven via a signal created by a water driven paddle wheel under the boat.

      IS there a digital speed display? Does the speed-set still function?

        The speed set is still working as are the electronic readings under the speedometer needle. Just the needle is not working. So should I check and see if the paddle is messed up or has some debris in it? It’s under the boat and on what side?

          Nope, paddle wheel supplies the signal for all 3. Sounds like its isolated to the mechanical gauge.

              Is there anyway to oil the speedometer arm or clean it before I just buy a new gauge? Or see if is just getting stuck do to condensation or humidity?

                Ok I solved the problem. I added fats sacks to surf and wakeboard so anyone know why I did not get a reading? The boat was to high out of the water to spin the paddle. Learn something new everyday!

                  There is an aftermarket GPS speed sensor that will replace the troubled little paddle. It has worked flawlessly for me. Really helps control the speed when surfing. One of the best logical upgrades I’ve made.
