Your boat is obviously different from my 23V but I found with the gsa tabs to get the best wave I needed a lot of front weight. I ran a 700 bag almost full up front most of the time. I found evenly sinking the boat worked better than slamming the back with the gsa tabs.

For pitch and roll download an app on your phone to double check the screens accuracy.

I’ll try again with the picture.

What do you have for cup? The 16”x12.5” on their website has .075, which I thought was the minimum.

You would know better than me, if the prop would help, or not. Only reason I think it might, is because of that rooster tail mine is throwing, you can see it on the pic of mine, on the top of the wave, closest to the transom. It’s like 5’ high, when we’re wakeboarding. I think that’s the reason the top of my wave is so turbulent, where everyone else’s looks smooth. Could just be my setup, but it just seems weird to me.

Definitely trying more bow weight, next time out. I’m also going to pull some of the surf locker weight out. I was pretty even last time, except for the 500# in the locker, surf side. Apparently that’s too much.

I also had the exact same thought comparing an angle app to my touchscreen. If it’s 1 or 2° off, that could be a pretty major difference, I’m sure. Especially if I’m using those numbers trying to dial in.

Part of me thinks that spray off the front of the wave is a byproduct of two things, slightly too fast and possibly taps being too low. On my goofy side particularly if I run my taps below 3 my wave looks like that. The same goes for wakeboarding, run taps too low and you get a ton of spray, way too much water is being dispersed at once with the larger GSA tabs and prop rotation surfing goofy. On the regular side, I can run taps all the way to one and get a clean wave. Do you have any pictures of that side?

For the prop I had 0.04 taken out of the cup after trying the prop and not getting enough get up and go. I wasn't swapping the prop with any intentions of helping the wave but solely to bring down surf rpms which it did tremendously. The reason you need to take cup out of the 16" is that the 1.56:1 transmission is not ideal for that large of a prop. Removing cup grabs less water getting more bite and increasing rpm slightly, very similar to a lower pitch.

Talking weighting. The GSA tabs don't deploy nearly as far as taps 3 and because of this there is a lot less lift in the back of the boat as compared to taps 3, meaning less is more in the rear.
Too much weight on one side and the wave becomes too steep and short and not enough the wave is washy. Spread the surf locker weight out a bit and it should help.

Definitely isn’t Taps being too low, as I never go below 3, and usually 4, after you had told me that it lifts the rear out of the water, which made perfect sense. Could be speed, but below like 11.6-11.8, the wave had less length than the Taps surf system, which might mean that it’s all because of that weight in the locker.

Running Taps that low on the regular side is interesting, because I’ve never really tried, but that would lengthen that wave out, and that’s always been my problem with that side. Super tall, steep, and no length. I don’t have a pic of that side from last weekend, we didn’t have an regular riders, so we never really messed a whole lot with it.

It sounds like losing some locker weight, and adding some bow weight, might be just what I need. Should help me hit plane easier too, which is always welcome.

What elevation are you at, again? I know I’ve asked. But don’t remember the answer.

I’m going to make a bullet point list for next time I’m out, and I’ll take a few more pics.

Appreciate the help, as always, brotha!!

Yes, more pictures! We all like more pictures. I especially like the one in this thread. The girl cheesing it up like you're taking a picture of her. I can just imagine how that went:

You: (while taking pictures) You're so beautiful!
Her: Oh, thank you! You're not so bad yourself. (smiles big)
You: I was talking about the wave!

You goes home with black eye.

I’m at about 1200 ft and that’s the highest I’ve ever ran it at. The RZX hull just drives so much better with bow weight, just be careful putting it on the trailer. If you’re too deep the nose will dip below the roller so always try and go shallow at first.

You’re almost on the money, for sure! I would have had said black eye, but mostly because I had called one of Kelly’s sisters “beautiful”.

I was thinking you were higher than that, our home lake is 3 1/2 times that. It’s definitely wayyyy better with more weight in the bow. I’ve gone overboard with water, lead, and people, which gets a little sketchy, but she sure planes real easy. Usually the people don’t last too long in that situation, because they’re getting wet. And you’re right, about the trailer. I filled the back seat of my truck with water, trying to load after sucking an anchor rope into my prop, with all my lead in the bow. There are definitely some things to be aware of. I wish they had made the bow bags about twice as heavy,

I haven’t even been back out. It’s been either garbage weather, or my company coming back to business after BS Covid shutdowns, every weekend, then I leave for Alaska for a week, then back down to SoCal the following week. It will be 3 weeks, best case, before I’m on the water again. Got my gel coat, finally, so I’m hoping to get everything coated while it’s sitting, at least.

Planning a bunch of lake time for July.

What's in Alaska, vacation? I grew up in Anchorage. We're heading up there mid June for a HUGE road trip to just about everywhere you can drive.

I’ve never been, but supposedly I’m gonna want to go back. We’re flying into anchorage and staying in Kasilof for a week, to fish the Kasilof and Kenai rivers. Me, my dad, and a couple of buddies. We booked it as a surprise for his 70th, last year, and Covid jacked it up.

I’ve been trying to plan a caribou hunt with a buddy’s father in law, that has helped us with a bunch of our hunts, so thinking I’ll probably be back up there in the next year or 2, also.

I love the Kenai river. I caught a 32" rainbow on a fly rod back in 2015 while drifting the Kenai.

Part of our road trip this time will be driving the Dalton to the artic circle line and camping there over summer solstice. I was talking to a guy a couple weeks ago who got stuck for four hours on the Dalton waiting for "the rest" the caribou herd to finish crossing the highway. Said there was just thousands and thousands of caribou. I hope we'll get to see some. Just not 4 hours worth of them.

I’ll let you know how it goes. Doesn’t sound like there’s much to not love up there! We’re doing some river and ocean fishing. Flying a float plane in to fish somewhere one day, where there are supposed to be a bunch of bears.

That sounds like it will be awesome! I think it’s like 19 hours of daylight while we’re there. I wanna say sunset is like 11:40 and sunrise is like 4:30, or something like that. We have a 3 hour drive from Anchorage out the Kenai peninsula, so we’ll get to see some stuff on that drive. You’re driving from Utah, or flying up there and driving around Alaska? That migration is insane. I want to say 40,000 head of caribou all moving together. 4 hours would definitely be a little excessive. Once you look at a few hundred, that’s plenty!!
