    GSA dialed in

Anyone have any advice of dialing in my New GSA system this weekend on my RZX? I remember seeing advice on plate angles somewhere, but don’t remember where that was. Might have been a YouTube video.

I know Jason said 3°-5° lean and 9° of now rise, and I haven’t had it out yet, but just looking to reduce the amount of time I have to spend messing with it, if possible. Boat will be sunk, probably 10-12 people and 1200# lead. 300-400 lead in the bow, 500-600 surf side in the locker, and whatever is left in the center.

My plates will go to about 13.5° fully extended. Maybe it’s only a matter of testing it, which I’m fine with, but just curious if there’s any rule of thumb for degree down to get the best skim and surf wave.

    As usual, thanks dudes!!

With that much weight in the boat I would probably only fill the boat bout half full and that being said sped up and get the nose down . Move bodies to fine tune

I usually ride like 11.5-12, so hopefully that’s enough on the speed, I don’t have PnP bag, either, so I’m lighter than most running that much lead. I’m sure I’ll get it figured out. Guessing I’ll still be in that 4-ish range on my taps3 setting.

I thought I saw somewhere, where just a couple degrees down is pretty ideas for surf and deeper for skim, but I can’t remember where I saw that, or if whoever I saw write or video that, even knew what they are talking about. I just saw Jason write the they run 7-9° down, on Josh’s GSA thread, which I’ll get an idea where that is before I leave. Maybe it will be more apparent where the best numbers are with the GSA. There are times with TAPs that it looks the same for like 3 different setting.

Get an angle measurement of each of your taps3 numbers so you have an idea of where your tabs are at with each setting. Then I'd just start off normally. Either weight the boat evenly or dump 10% off the non surf side to help lean the boat over a bit. That way you can use less tab so it doesn't push the rear end out of the water as much. I think you'll find your new numbers are one or two off from what you're used to.
Remember, I was initially disappointed with the results. Took me a bit longer to get it figured out than I would have liked. Once I did, I was very happy with the results. You may just find, with all your lead and no PNP, your settings are much different than what the rest of us would have needed to use. So all our advice might be worthless.

You initially being disappointed is what made me think maybe someone would have some advice I hadn’t thought of. I didn’t want to spend the first 3 day trip of the year messing with it the whole time.

I’ll take those measurements, and see where I’m at. My full down is like 12.5°-13, so I’m guessing I’ll be around 2 for skim and 3-4 for surf, using Jason’s numbers.

In my lil heart, I know you’re right, I just have to figure it out. Just looking for some shortcuts, which probably don’t exist, since every setup is a little different.

Being that your tabs will be at different angles and your ballast setup is different as well it’s really hard to give some exact numbers. Best thing to do is post some pictures with the setups and we can give advice on how to tweak it.

Personally I rarely adjust my surf tab. Goofy is almost always at 2 and regular is 1 or 2. I mostly adjust taps or ballast to change the wave.

That’s interesting. Do you know what your full down angle is? I wasn’t thinking settings numbers, more like plate angles.

I’ll grab some pictures when I’m out, and see what you think. Hoping I’m putting more thought into this, than I actually need to.

Been a while but I think it’s around 13 degrees. And yes you’re putting way too much thought into it. If your tabs are set up properly it should be super easy, you might just need to list it over a bit.

I’ve had countless amounts people tell me my wave is by far the best tige wave they’ve ever surfed.

Not the best video but you will figure it out pretty easily. This is on a flatter setting at 11.4mph

My numbers should be close to yours, if that’s the case, it’s almost exactly where I’m at. I’ll run 500-600 lead, in the locker, surf side, so that should give me some list. I’ll dump some offside water, and try to get close to that like 4-5° lean.

That’s cool to hear, hopefully I can get mine fairly dialed this weekend. I spent the whole first summer messing with the TAPs trying to figure it out.

Looking good on that wave bro!! Good luck this season!!

We’re camping at Bullards this weekend, hoping to hit Lahontan at least one, of, or possibly both, the next 2 weekends. You been out there? It isn’t looking too hot. We’re thinking we might try and do some Fallon side weekends, after our side is dust.

Got it all mounted, hopefully my hole filling and sealing is up to par!

Ignore the transom straps, thanks BoatMate for, yet another, letdown!

I was out a few weeks ago for a test drive. It was not looking good. It hasn’t gotten any better. Dropping 500 acre feet a day. Stupid Fallon. Our side might last another week or two.
