I have an ‘18 RZX2. I upgraded to GSA plates last year and noticed the surf wake became much more weight sensitive — I had to add about 150 pounds of lead to each rear locker which helped a lot.
Your boat, of course, comes standard with the new GSA-style plates. I have no idea if you will experience the same issue I did, but if you notice you have to drive your passengers crazy moving them around the boat to clean up the wave try adding a bunch of extra lead to the rear lockers.
I’m assuming you already have the the plug-n-play sacs in the rear lockers. If not, you’ll absolutely need them if you pan to surf.

I have a 2019 RZX3. I’m just going to spit ball as I think of things.
Pay close attention to the plug and play bags in the rear lockers when filling. Sometimes the removable plastic boards that wall off the engine can slide up as the bags fill causing them to come out of their slots.
Also pay close attention to your ballast big fittings. I have had a few pop off because of how they can get in a bind in weird angles as the bags fill. The sub floor bags are held in place by zip ties attached to their fittings where they come out of the holes in the floor. Check on those ever so often to make sure they are still attached. I have had one pop off (bag had to be replaced) and cause a fitting to fail. It’s just a good idea to keep an eye on your bilge when bags are being filled in general so you know the water is going in the bags and not in your boat.
After each time on the water, pull the T handle drain plug that’s below the trash can in the center storage locker where the in-floor cooler is, not just your drain plug on the back on the transom. Water tends to collect in that T handle location even with rear plug out and the boat has sat an angle.
If you have tower down cover, consider putting some sort of protection on the top windshield bracket where the cover sits like a pool noodle cut in half. The paint has rubbed off on mine from the friction. The newer models have more of a powder coat type paint on the windshield frames so you may be okay without this.
I never run the center taps plate on auto mode. I like to manually control it as I takeoff and cruise. Not sure if the newer systems have been changed but the auto system for me just doesn’t cut it.
I’m sure there’s at least 10 more quirky things about my boat that I haven’t listed that I’ll think of and when I do I’ll post them.

The low bow gives great visibility, but that also makes it easy to take water over it. When a rider falls, come to a stop and wait for the wave to pass, then turn around. This will great reduce the chance of taking on water.
Also, just accept the fact that you will take on LOTS of spray when traveling into moderate wind and chop, soaking your crew.

Another thing I found helpful when someone falls is I turn the rudder opposite the rider ie. if they surf left, turn right, At the same time I pull the throttle back. This causes the vessel to drift slowly parallel to the wake, and the wake then travels under the boat pretty smoothly and doesn’t give anything the opportunity to come over the front.Last edited by USWaker; 04-21-2021, 02:08 AM.

I have the 18 RZX3. Best wave is to drain off the non surf side about 10 or 20% to list the boat. especially when surfing the normal side, I have the extra bags and no lead. Surf wave is sweet. I run on a big lake in NH, no issue with spray or stuffing the nose, just need to pay attention to speed and wave conditions.
