Which TAPS wires to "jump" for testing

I have an '01 23V and I believe that my TAPS switch wires are shorted, but before screwing around with the re-wiring, I would like to verify that this is in fact the problem.
I have read through page after page of TAPS info, but can't find the answer to this one:
Under the dash, I see the tiny TAPS wires going from the throttle handle to the relay, and in that routing, the wires are spliced with blade-type connectors. I'm assuming that if I pull those apart, I should be able to "jump" wires to verify the system function, right? There is a red, a black, and a white.......my question is which wires to jump together??
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First thin gto do is disconnect the taps setup from the battery so you don't fry anything. Second, I like to spliced an inline fuse into my "jumper cables" that I make with 12g speaker wire to use for testing stuff like this.

Black is your ground.BE VERY CAREFUL if you use the pins in a connector, it's easy to touch them together and ruin something.
Attach a 12v olt battery to your ground with your jumper wire. and then connect your fused jumper line from the positive to the other colors....not sure which is which, but you'll figure it out when you connect them. Have someone watch to see your plate is moving...

Be sure you are hitting the switch on the handle or else when you touch the wires between the relay and the switch nothing will happen. I would actually recommend starting on the taps unit itself--then rule out the wiring to the switch, then to the relay, and then the relay itself(which goes bad often).

Starting on the taps unit directly lets you know-if it works ok- the problem is somewhere in the wiring...

Again, if you use the blade connectors you are speaking of in the op, make sure you have a helper hitting the taps switch up/down as you make connections.

Hope that helps at least a littel bit. Just be methodical and patient....wiring can be a super-biiiiootch to try and figure out.

If you still can't get it let me know. I'll rip mine apart and figure out which colors do what again. haven't installed my batteries yet so it would not be too big of a deal for me to monkey with it if you need me to.

        Jason,
I meant to thank you for your extensive reply to my inquiry, so thanks. (better late than never, right?)
I ended up pulling the connections apart for the 3 switch wires under the dash and wiring in a new momentary on-off-on switch from Radio Shack as a temporary fix for this season.......it works! I wired terminals 1 to red, 2 to black, and 3 to white just the same as the factory throttle-handle switch and lucked out. I was relieved that there was nothing more complicated wrong with the system.
I will have to inquire later with you about your Perfect Pass Stargazer install, as I'd like to do that once I can stomach the $$ expenditure!
        Thanks again!
