V-drive and transmission, get a new trans cooler and pressure test the raw water side of the v-drive. If the engine block cracked the v-drive could have too because the fluid cooler runs through it.
When I bought the boat, I was told the block was cracked and the engine was half torn down because the owner wanted to tackle the project himself(in way over his head). After I pulled the block I could not find a crack anywhere. I did find a small part of the bell housing cracked off which I found strange, but that is the only thing broken I could find. The engine that was in there had the intake and heads pulled off, and then left outside uncovered for six years. Pistons filled with water and I’m afraid the walls are now too pitted to be bored to spec.

I’ll check the vdrive for leaks when I get the bilge cleaned up! Are there seals that I should replace now that I have it all apart?

Perhaps whomever separated it from the engine left a bolt in.

Yep, that is exactly it. Have to remove the started to get to that one. My bell housing looks almost the exact same. I plan on JB Welding the pieces back on

Sorry I haven't updated in a while! here are some shots of us getting the engine put back together and installed into the boat.

Unfortunately I did not take enough pictures to document this properly, but days of fiberglass work, sanding, gelcoat, and more sanding went into setting this floor from gatorstep. It was a ton of work, but it is what everyone comments on when they see the boat now.

We got the interior back from the quilting club, and they did a fantastic job! here is the boat all cleaned up, new interior in and new tower installed.

Huge shout out to Gumby on this forum! He was kind enough to share his cell with me, and answered countless of my questions. Would have had a much more difficult process without his invaluable knowledge and help!

Last few things that I need to address:

The faria Pilot gauge is absolutely toast, if anyone has a recommendation for a replacement, I would appreciate it!

My perfect pass is not working. The gauge is unresponsive, and no speed reading comes up. The servo motor is good, and everything appears to be connected.
If anyone has any tips for testing/ diagnosing I would appreciate it. I am on a very tight budget, and a stargazer upgrade is a little out of the question. I could find a used single line display, but I don't want to waste the money, if no speed signal is reaching the master module.

I got my taps to work, but it is leaking around the base of the cylinder. I don't see any numbers on the hydraulics to use a reference to order a rebuild kit. If anyone has that info it would be greatly appreciated!

I need to build some kind of plate to mount my ballast switches to! Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Lastly, I cant get the engine to run correctly. I took it to a marina, and had the timing set because I did not have the computer to do it myself. Now the boat idles and starts great, but backfires through the intake. The shop swears that the timing is pot on, but the boat was running better when I first put the engine together and aligned it at TDC.
I had 62 psi to the schrader valve at idle, so I thought I may be running rich, I replaced the fuel pressure regulator, and it was still backfiring. I have not gotten a chance to test the pressure since replacing the regulator. I have also put new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and I cleaned each injector thoroughly to make sure I was getting good spray. The gas tank was completely drained and fresh gas was put in. Not sure what direction to go in next. Also a strong smell of unburned gas.

                      Looking good!
The cylinder probably just needs orings should be able to source them after measuring I'd think.
You should be able to call Bennett in florida and tell them the boat model and year and they can get you the right parts.

I would verify spark plug wires/firing order is correct. Plug wire on the wrong hole will cause a backfire in intake especially when spanking the throttle.
