    2001 2100v Limited Rebuild.

Hey everyone, I'm new here! Just picked up a used and abused 2100v for a price that let's me get on the water without going into debt. The catch is, it needs a new engine, interior, stereo, and im sure everything else imaginable. Just wanted to say hello, as I'm sure I'll have a million questions along the way! Hopefully I can get it updated, and surfable by June.

Thanks a lot! I've read quite a few of your posts, and your boat looks amazing! I already have my interior pulled, and my grandmas quilting club is redoing it for me. Lmao. I just hope it doesn't come back with a flower covered interior! FB_IMG_1617057654876.jpg

That's how I bought it. The previous owner didn't winterize it and cracked the block, he started pulling the engine apart in the boat. He got in over his head and discouraged; left it outside uncovered for a few years until he decided to sell it.

Thankfully I know my way around a small block chevy. I pulled a 5.7 vortec out of an 97 suburban, and im having the block honed and cleaned right now. Im going to put the marine cam, new bearings, new Piston rings, heads off the marine engine, mpi manifold, and marine accessories onto the new block. I know this isn't ideal, but I don't have 10k to drop on a new engine.

Got all of those things, including different sized rings, and brass plugs! Appreciate the injector tip! I'm worried about whether my ECM will be good after that long of neglect. They are impossible to find I've read, and I don't want to swap it to a carb.

A mess but a ton of potential.

What the heck is this??? Looks like part of the wooden stringer system and floor.

Now that I think of it, I assume its the rear bulkhead. Forgot they were wood at that time.

Was going to ask if you got it in NC but then I saw the tags on the picture. Saw that one on CL a while ago. Going to be a heck of project. Hope you can get it on the water before the summer is over!

Awesome to see somebody save an old Tige. I’ll be following along for sure.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Good luck and keep us posted. Crazy how someone can let a boat like that go to waste.

So I have pulled the interior, and the original engine. I have my grandmas quilting club redoing the interior, very fortunate that they offered, and excited to see how it turns out. When I tore the engine down, the block wasn’t cracked at all. That means the poor original owner was lied to by his shop, and a perfectly good motor was wasted. I have GatorStep ordered, ballast bags and pumps purchased, kicker speakers and a fusion ms-ra70 ready to install.

next steps are to gel coat the floor, and drop the original engine and donor motor off at the machine shop. I hope to be able to bore out the original block to save it as it is a 4 bolt main.

I was thinking about putting fiberglass resin over the floor and then covering with gel coat. Is there a better way to do it?

What should I service on the vdrive and transmission while I have it out? I’m a first time vdrive owner, so I am clueless.

Thanks for all of the feedback!

Wasn't the block cracked? You don't need a four bolt for this application so a donor engine of 87 and newer vintage will be just fine (roller blocks) and the 97 block you mentioned earlier are perfect because its a vortec. V-drive and transmission, get a new trans cooler and pressure test the raw water side of the v-drive. If the engine block cracked the v-drive could have too because the fluid cooler runs through it.
