    Looking at buying 2017 rz2

Anything I should know about the rz2 surf? Rough water ride? I’m coming from an 2016 mb b52 23 foot and i had really good luck with it and after figuring out the surf it was great and ride was great in rough water

Damn good surf wave listed! With the pickle bow, may not be the best rough water ride, but id certainly not say it will beat you to death.

similar hull to our 22ve. as chp stated great surf wave listed. we never tried a suckgate. all it took was factory bow ballast and chp's upgraded rear sacs and wave was money with 5 or 6 in the boat. less and it needs a few hundred in lead.

we got stuck a few times out in the bay of green bay with some big whitecaps and it's slow going coming back but more not wanting to beat the boat to death than anything else. we were never in a hurry to get anywhere when on the lake.

good luck and if it works out, post up pics.

What exactly are you looking for in a new boat? The rz2 will have way better technology and better finishing compared to the Mb. But otherwise I would be hard pressed to switch from the b52, the deep v is great in rough water and it surfs really well. I just find the rz2 not the most spacious and pretty shallow up front.

I would look at the tige z3 or rzx series.

Yes! TAPS-3 surf system allowed for on demand side switching as well as a move away from the somewhat uncomfortable listed surfing.

Well With the market going crazy right now and boats priced so astronomical i found this rz2 at a great price and thought if it would surf comparable to the mb (and still handle ok) I would buy it and get us back on the water. Plus I did really like the look of the rz2 and tige has nice detail on there interior just don’t wanna buy on impulse and be disappointed.

We had a '17 RZ2 and loved it. Only changed to upgrade to the 22RZX.
Real rough water can cause spray if going into the chop & wind but can just put the bow up and ride thru it. At least that's what we did. We opted for the pickle fork both times for the wider room in the bow.

I have a 13 RZ2 and with upgraded rear ballasts and a surfgate, it produces a massive wave. Much better than listed plus the boat is flat with the gate. Upgraded to a bigger prop and she purrs like a kitten. The boat has been amazing, you'll love it!!

I have owned 2 RZ2's. A 2013 and 2015. With the right amount of weight and a wakeshaper/ surfgate the surf wave is phenomenal. The wave will hold shape at many speeds and give a long wave with push all the way back. I have surfed newer RZ2 with taps3 and did not like the wave quite as well as a surfgate wave, however the convivence of a surf system is always nice. Taps3 Seemed to require more weight to make an equal wave, GSA plates have solved this issue and would be worth the upgrade. The RZ2 is not great heading straight into chop, slower speeds it will do fine. We did always stay dry in the wind and chop, unlike some of these newer boats.
