I have already had a fiberglass expert tell me the glass was to thin. I am going to have him repair it and take pictures of the failure. Nothing was hit, the trailer guard is 8" below rudder. I was simply turning left when it failed. I have insurance to take care of it, but i just want for Tige to admitt fault in product. I have been around boats for over 30 years and have never seen a fail like this.

Don't they have some kind of crazy hull warranty of 20 years or something?
One other suggestion, be nice, it gets you much more help. Just my

Email to Tige #1
I have had my 2003 tige 22v for almost 6 months and have enjoyed immensely. The local riders who own have Malibu’s would rather ride behind the 22v tige. Today we went for a quick ride and while turning left I heard a crunch. The steering started feel not right so I stopped and noticed I was take on water. Upon pulling the boat out of the water I noticed the base of the rudder had broke through the hull. I notice were it was broken the glass had a void. Today we were riding with no ballast and was pulling at 23mph. I have been around boat all my life and have never seen anything like this. I was going to ask on tige owners, but I thought it would be handled best internally. I have attached pictures of the problem. Doesn’t the hull have a lifetime warranty?
Email to Tige #2 (after first rejection)
Harvey,
I just got back from the fiberglass repair shop. The guy (25+ years experience) said there was not enough glass over the plate. You can see this in the picture (165) bolts are ran down and have over an inch of exposed bolt. In looking at pictures of another 22v on tigeowners (talking about steering cable issues the bolt has less than a ¼”). What is the spec on the hull thickness? I am going to measure mine tomorrow with a RF gun .
Picture 157: Base plate through the right side of the hull and separation has occurred.
Picture 158: Cracks radiate away from plate 5-7”
Picture 159: Cracks radiate away from plate 5-7”
Picture 162: Rudder through right side while turning left.
Picture 164: Separation of glass. Top of glass less than 1/8” thick.
Picture 165: another picture of inside.
If I didn’t feel so strong that it is a manufacture defect I wouldn’t to continue to pursue a resolution. I have been involved in manufacturing for over 18 year and know how a quality product can be shadowed by one bad lemon. The bad part about the whole thing is my son has not been able to practice for his my coming competitions. He is extremely good with over 10 invert tricks, 540,720 and many other tricks. The longer it takes to fix you are losing advertisement (large Tige logo on boat). Everyone on the river wants a Tige after seeing my son, my son represents you well.
Thanks for your help,
John van Haastrecht

Man, all I know is if that happened to me I'd feel like I got the shaft big time.
You say you didn't hit anything I believe ya. Maybe the previous owner 'bumped' it one day, looked at it later, and didn't notice anything wrong so didn't think much about it. When he told ya it wasn't wrecked he believed he was telling the truth never thinking some minor bump in the past caused a structural issue that would turn up hours/months down the road.
Or... maybe the glass is too thin. It's going to be hard to prove even if you have a local expert saying he thinks it's too thin. Maybe if you could get the minimum spec from Tige and then show yours doesn't meet spec...
If you could somehow prove it was a mfg issue and not something else I feel like customer service should outweigh whether someone did the paperwork to transfer a warranty or not. You've got to stand behind your product.
Regardless of whether the previous owner hit something or if it was just a bad day at the factory the day your boat was born (and we'll probably never know for sure which it is) I feel for ya. Totally sucks to have something major like that happen on a toy you've had less than a year.
Best of luck getting your baby fixed and back out on the water soon!

Seems awful interesting that the supplied pictures show the prop guard all bent up, and having a couple of marks right inline with the rudder if it was straight, Also the entire prop guard is bent up and the highest point is from the left (must have hit there the most) which would defiantly make the rudder go to the right. I sure dont see 8" of clearance between it in the pictures shared, and that is with the rudder pushed up so i bet if the rudder was to be fixed that trailer needs to be straightened out first. i have never seen a trailer like that with more then 3 to 5" of clearance. Also i know how easy it is to whack a prop guard, i drag them up gas stations all the time, but if you go fast enough it will defiantly bend. Speed bumps, speed humps, curbs, pot holes, there are many obstacles in our road ways that were not designed for inboard boat trailer.
Why must you be all, Pissed off from the get go? i could never understand this? If i bought a truck from ford and it broke and i went to the dealer said hey what's the deal... they fix it no charge, next 2 days it breaks again, what good is it going to do me going in there all you did this, its your fault, im not this, im not that, this is BS, this is a bad design,... that is not going to get anything fixed. If you just called them said hey now could you maybe look into this and see what you can do.... instead of PUTTING IT IN BIG A** LETTERS ON THE OWNERS FORUM, they may think a little bit and come up with a deal with you.
Just be honest and admit that you probably hit a curb or a speed bump going to fast cuz you wanted to go skiing and
you only did this cuz you just wanted to start stuff and didn't wanna pay.
Dont hate me cuz i speak my mind.FairTax.org
