    New Z3 wake plates

    Wonder how they work.

Interesting. I thought the gsa plates were the end all be all. Wonder if they will start adding these to the ZX and RZX?

They look as they are missing the bottom portion of the plate as it folds back under the top plate of the other GSA's.
How is the wave in comparison to the original or last years GSA?

Looks like gsa without the bottom flow deflector.
im guessing they got tired of paying gsa for every set and this is a way around the patent with minimal wave detriment.

Some day, hopefully sooner rather than later, someone is going to win against Malibu (and their Patent).

since gsa lost to 'bu and are now paying patent rights, wonder if their cost went up and it was cheaper to pay 'bu and make their own plates than pay gsa a now inflated price for profits AND 'bu rights?

I'm with Brian196 that I thought gsa were the cats pajamas but never understood why tige didn't build something close inhouse.

either way if it makes the wave better doesn't matter where it comes from and glad to see them tweaking and not resting on successes.

What if the boats have a plate that can be different than another brand of boat.

and d&p, not educated on the topic but read somewhere skiers is the last "major" brand that is still winding thru court and seems they have no intention on laying down to 'bu. hope if it's still pending they are successful. feels like most companies found it cheaper to pay than fight. hope skiers fights if it's still going on.

Can anyone confirm if the ZX and RZX series boats for 2021 are going to this new plate?

It seems as if Lee may know which version seems to do better in producing a wave...

Brings a whole new dynamic to me? Was going to pull the trigger on the GSA plate this spring for my R23 but now...not so sure. Anyone know if they are offering upgrades to us "old" boat owners to these new plates? Maybe an easier install?

GSAs definitely went up in price, because of the lawsuit. I can’t remember the exact numbers from my conversation with GSA. but it was somewhere around $1k more. I found a set on here that I bought, that are going on before summer, I just need to get a gel guy to put my transom back to smooth, then I’m going to install the plates like a new install. Guessing it will be tough to get hands on a set of the new plates, at least for awhile, and if the hype is legit, which I have yet to find an owner with nothing but good to say, the GSA plates are still a major improvement over the TAPs plates. I’d love to see someone retro the new plates on an older boat just for comparison sake, but I won’t be the guinea pig.

for some reason I thought the tabs were $1500 and now $2300? I know the kit wasn't $4600 when we explored it for our z3 we sold last year. I thought it was in the mid 3k range so a grand would be right on.

with the z3 being a new hull as mentioned in the other thread, perhaps tige found out different plates will yield same or better results than gsa?

either way that's going to put a dent in gsa sales on the retrofit market. 4600 and tax pushes it to 5k. that's a lot of scratch for a retro kit.
