    2012 RZ2 - Ballast (new owner)

    All-

New to the site and new to being a Tige’ owner.

I can only imagine this topic has been beat to death - so my apologies.

The boat we bought has a upgraded 1000 Fatsac on the port side of the boat. My wife and I both surf goofy.... The question is do we add a second Fatsac of similar size on the starboard side? Then the rear would have 2000 lbs?

I understand there will be lots of tweaking necessary - but am looking to find a good starting point.

You could add equal weight and use a suction device.

If the boat the OEM Surf or Pro level ballast, you would likely not be able to swap the sac to the other side. So adding a proper sac to the STBD side would be best.

With that said, Fill full the side you surf or both sides, would depend on how you want to set the boat up and surf it. Old-school listed over, you would fill the surf side full and maybe the offside maybe 25%-50%. Running a surf device of some kind, you may fill both side 75%-100%

What chpthril said above and I will add that in my experience with my 22ve (same running surface) goofy loves bow weight whereas regular not so much.

I run my opposite side approx 80% of what my surf side is. Easiest way to set yourself up is to fill both equally and then run your boat at speed. I'd suggest around 11.4mph and taps 3-4. While running start dumping our offside weight until the surf side wave stops curling over (makes a line) and creates a nice smooth face.

Make or buy yourself a wakeshaper/suckgate device and mount it 12-18" from the rear of the boat and list damn near to the rub rail. Below will be your results.
