We order out 22RZX with the 400 and the 23RZX with the 440.

If this boat drives nice and has decent waves/wakes it's a done deal.
Dealer says 400 is enough and the 440 is not any better. What do you guys think? Is the 440 worth the $?
What elevation do you boat at? That play a big in role in which motor you should go with.

      Here is a video of someone skiing behind a 2018 RZX2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0fzMpzgFLs

We are at sea level 90% of the time. The highest lake we go to is about 2800. $6K is a small percentage of the overall boat price if you can notice the difference. The 460 requires premium and not much higher number for $11K.

I would say you'd be fine at sea level. And you're right, there's not much difference between the 400 and 440. I have the 440 in my rzx2, but I'm also at 4200 ft. It scoots around just fine, but we also don't run ski speeds much. The 440 makes the HP difference in the higher RPM range, where skiing happens. A boat that only surfs won't really see the benefits of the 440 over a 400. A skier might.

Since you’re skiing I would really consider the 440 with the 2:1. Normally the 400 is more than enough but your rpm will be pretty high with a surf prop, with the 440 you will be able to bring the rpm down and still surf.

Just fyi, 460 also requires 15-50 full synthetic oil, which is quite a but more than the 5-30 that is run in the 440.

We pulled the trigger and ordered pretty loaded 22 RZX with the 440. The boat should arrive Mid April. This will be the longest 4 months ever.

It will leave plenty of time to figure out how to pay for it!

Picked it up last week, put 10 hours on it and love it. Pretty loaded with 440.
What is everyone’s ballast setup on the RZX 22?
