Very curious to see this how this looks and performs. They market it as starting low $100s, but still unsure how that fits in the line. They removed content from the RZX line last year to make that their mid range boat. Is the price gap between a ATX and RZX that big where it makes sense to have another boat in there? From the website, the 22RZX starts at $110,132 and 23RZX $111,658 and Z3 is low $100s? I guess it suits the people that want a traditional bow premium boat.

Yea! Another 100k surf boat! Just what the tow boat world needs. Way to go Tige. Way to change the game.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Tige went the price point route with the ATX line. I get what you are saying, and don't necessarily disagree, but if I were in the boat business right now, and something is at a high premium like boats (dealers can't keep them on the lots), I would be taking the temperature of the market and selling them accordingly. I don't think anyone would tell you in any business, when the demand is high, price it real low. If that's their approach, they are not rewarding their stakeholders appropriately.

No doubt we all agree with that sound logic. Having said that I have been wondering what the boat market holds for this year. 2020, in my opinion, was artificially high due soley to covid. People that normally travel or do other activities and couldn't picked up boats for distancing. So now we have to speculate. I predict that with the vaccine coming out now, things will be close to normal by summer time. A handful of new boat owners fell in love with it and will keep their boats. Many others will dump them and go back to their normal activities. Used boats will flood the market this spring/summer.
With that being said, I wonder if now is the best time to introduce a new boat? I also wonder about the Z3 shape. It's old. Most builders have left that shape for the larger bows. Are they expecting Tige owners to dump their RZX/ZX and pick this up?

On the other hand, aren't build slots about full for 2021? I know SC is. Or at least well into summer. So again, they are hoping people cancel their other boat build and build one of these instead, or they just wont build many of them. Maybe Tige has expanded their manufacturing and will open up new slots?

I kind of thing the best thing is just to make it a "rebuilding" year and lay low and see what happens.

I think it will take 2-3 years before we really see a big dump of used boats. Right now, inventory is still less than half of what it was this time last year on the used market. It's going to take time to build that inventory back up, but I agree that those people who find they don't use they boats that often once things get back to "normal" will look at selling.

I don't know if there is ever a great time to introduce a new boat, but need to keep inventing, innovating, and pushing forward with new technology or you will get left in the dust to competitors. I'm guessing the boat was suppose to debut a lot sooner, but COVID pushed it back. That's what happened to SC and their new Mojo. I'm curious on the build slots as well. Like SC, I'm guessing Tige is either sold out or very close. By the time a lot of dealers got the new Mojo, they were already sold out and couldn't even get you one if you wanted to order. Wonder if Tige is the same way or if they held build slots for the new Z3?

unstuck, I agree with it being a "rebuild" year. I hope tige isn't adding build spots. keep the new boat builds to a static number to help keep the market from being flooded and devaluing your product. I share your thoughts on mid year used market being a hot mess and would not be surprised to see some of the sold build slots back out.

d&P- tell me the last time ANY boat manufacturer lowered prices on a product. z3 in the low100's to start seems high for a dated hull and design unless they added topdeck. they might offer incentives down the road but I'd be highly surprised if price lowers so they release in a hot market at a high price and likely won't go down. that could come back and bite... IF it's a z3 again with zx interior it'll sell a few. r23 finishes and it'll collect dust. fwiw our r23 was over 20k less than that starting price and I know everyone made money on it so interested to see. the market has def. cooled off some. cousin traded in his '20 r23 on a new 23zx. they have had his trade for going on 3 months now and have dropped the price once.

Manufacturers wont lower prices until the market dictates it. Business 101. That's my point. We can gripe and complain all we want, and I will join in, but at the end of the day, it's all about an organizations bottom line. How can we blame them? You want a fair priced surf boat - Heyday has them. Keep in mind, Bayliner owns them now, so there's that. The Z3 they are offering in the low 100's is NOT the Z3 offered 3 years ago. It's not a dated design, trust me. I am not going to say it's a "game changer" by any stretch, but it's not the same Z3. Rumor also has it these won't have the same high build numbers of other Tige models. It's not a R23, or even the Z3 you are familiar with. The market may have cooled where your cousin is, but I can tell you for a fact, it has not cooled nationally. I think most of us are hoping it does soon, but statistically speaking, it hasn't cooled yet.

For sure the new Z3 is not the old Z3. Hull and deck are different, just same name. The model is not going to be over produced as production is almost full and the new boat is coming out with a small window of build slots and one mold.

                      1. Its a completely new boat, top to bottom

                      2. Its killer and crushes an old Z3 performance wise

                      3. Its a lot more boat yet the price is more in line with the old Z3

I would get with your dealer if you are in the market see if they can show you anything.

For what its worth I've been on it, surfed it and drove it. Its drastically different than anything they have ever made in terms of performance. Im a massive fan, so much so that if I could get them I would order 40 for the shops.

January should come with a ton more info for everyone.

So it looks like the Z3 is nothing like the old Z3. But Tige advertised it as bringing back a legend or something like that, which now we are told is nonsense. Several people here are already turned off by idea of the old Z3 coming back at a 6 figure price. This seems like a marketing failure, IMHO. It needs a new name if it is a new boat.

Might want to work on your spelling before making a career change.

Malibu Wakesetter, Mastercraft X-series, Nautique G-series.. all updated over the years, have used the same name for years, all much higher prices than when they started. Perhaps Tige is noticing what the competition has been doing?

I see no issue with keeping the z3 name.
Just means 23' with a traditional bow setup IMO, if they changed the model name every time they changed a design we'd be looking at the z398

After Germain's glowing endorsement I'm excited to see it.
I've always liked the z3 and hope they keep the style going with the redesign.
