Last lake trip before winterization last weekend. 65* water felt cold but beautiful weather, no boats and had the kids on their zoom classroom meetings while surfing. Headed to mammoth to snowboard next week. What a year!!!

My Family we live in Melbourne Victoria Australia and we have just come out of a probably 8 to 10 weeks lockdown and so far was 18 days of no Covid in the state so our summer is just starting so hopefully we will be okay and hopefully you guys come out of it okay as well

Bad a$$ Cory! I have yet to winterize in hopes that some warmer weather (and a new surfboard) show up again... But we have temperatures dipping below 30 degrees for the first time this year tomorrow! Curious as to what winterization practices you recommend in South Texas... and do you change all your fluids at the end of the season or beginning of the next? Cheers!

I should probably post this elsewhere but I'll make it special for you Mike!
I run the pink RV antifreeze through the system for about 5 minutes but I have closed loop cooling. For raw water cooled engines, run it on the fake a lake until the engine reaches temp (thermostat opens) then switch over and run the coolant through the system for at least 5 min. I use one of the black tubs from Home Depot (I think around 40 gallon size) and dump in about 10 gallons of the pink RV antifreeze. I have a 2200GPH Rule bile pump with 20' of 12/2 Anchor marine wire and alligator clips and a hose connection adapting the 1 1/8th pump outlet to male hose bib. I connect the alligator clips to the boat battery and run a hose from the Rule pump to the fake a lake. I place the pump in the tub and the tub under the exhaust. With the engine running, I recirculate the fluid through the system making sure the thermostat opens several times before shutting off the engine. The tub catches about 99% of the antifreeze and I refill the original antifreeze containers for use next year.
As for fluid changes, we just did our 3rd oil change this season right before the reunion but there are several different thought processes on doing them. Here's the facts: shitty oil produces shitty results and using substandard oils will lead to acid build up, oxidation and corrosion on internal metal. If you're using regular petroleum based oil, change it at the end of season while the engine is HOT. If you are using semi-synthetic marine specific oil (i.e. Mercuiser or Quicksilver) or Amsoil fully synthetic, change at the regular service interval. Automotive based semi-synthetic and "fully synthetic" do not carry the corrosion adaptive packages available with the higher quality oils mentioned above and therefore should be changed at the end of season to stave of future issues. Remember, run the engine following the oil change to circulate the new oil through the system.
If your area has ethanol gas, run a separate small fuel tank with 3oz/gallon (50:1) synthetic 2 stroke oil in it through the engine. The synthetic 2 stroke oil keeps the injector pintles lubricated and happy because ethanol sucks.Fixing everyone elses boat just so I can use mine...
