    2020 Tige 21ZX or 2021 Moomba Kaiyen

Looking at our first ever boat. New to boating and a little bummed everything is over 100k. Anyways to the boats we are looking at.

Boats are pretty similar but the Tige is nicer inside and out but also cost 15K more. Which will surf better? Moomba dealer has nothing in stock to look at or test ride. The weather is getting bad so getting hard to take the Tige out. How big of engine do I need to surf with a 21’ boat at 6000’. Will wakeboard some also and wondering about the wave for that also. Thanks for any info on these two boats.

Have you been in other people’s boat before? Or will this be your first time time hitting the water? I don’t have experience on either boat, but there are some guys on here that do and have lots of experience at 5000, 6000 and 7000ft elevation. Need to consider the gear ratio in combination to engine as well. Tige has 2:1 gears that will help push the boat better than the 1.5:1....

I’m sure the ZX is going to perform better than the moomba, as moomba is a value boat. Why not consider skiers choice top tier line Supra. To compare apples to apples. Compare Tige to Supra and Moomba to ATX.

Since this is your first boat ever....If I was you, I’d look for a 3-4 yr old boat and run it for 1-2 summers. You will enjoy it just as much. ,but the dock dings and lessons learned may not scare you emotionally as well. then you will have some experience and know what you do and don’t like in a boat, then upgrade and get all the right options. Boats are not like cars. You could sale the 5-6 yr old boat for what you paid for it assuming you keep it in good shape.

Oops. Excuse me for the double post. 2 more thoughts!

        1) dealer support is HUGE!!!! This can make or break your overall experience!!!! This is another reason to buy a cheaper used boat so you can test out your dealers service department.

        2) if the price difference is only 15k, you are either getting a steal in the ZX or getting screwed on the Moomba! I have not shopped the market this year, but I would have expected the moomba to be 90-95k if optioned up. The kaiyen is a 21ft boat....the makai should be at or just above 100k or at least they were last year.......that’s 3ft difference in length and a rough rule of thumb is $4-5k per foot when comparing 21-24 ft boats. So if a Makai is 105k, then kaiyen should be 90k when optioned the same way. Long story short, I would have thought the difference between the ZX and kaiyen would have been closer to 30k.

He's looking at the Zx1 s they are the same size boat, and the Tige is a used 2020 so the price is a bit lower.

I said it on the moomba forums as well but it's really not a contest IMO. ZX all day from those two options.
Moomba is a great boat but the tige is just several steps ahead since they aren't really in the same class.

ZX will surf better than the Kaiyen, but as others have already mentioned you aren't comparing apples to apples. The ZX also has a lot more features and content.

Tige for sure, especially being a 2021 with the go system. In my opinion the build quality of the mambas is lacking was out on a craz the other week and it just felt cheap, the floor flexed, seats weren't overly comfortable, etc. This one was a few years old and I believe the newer ones have improved but still not the same. Even if it is 15k difference you will make that up in resale after the Moomba takes its depreciation hit.

They have really stepped up their game since 18 or so, IMO the new moombas (especially kayen and makai and probably the upcoming Mojo) feel like Supras that are missing the finishing touches and not like a cheaper built boat.

I know one thing. Winter boat show pricing is way better. Everyone is paying high Covid prices now. This winter you will get a 2021 cheaper.

Unless there is no boat show or they sell out of boat build spots before then which both could easily happen this year I think. Crazy times
