We haven't had a single customer with an aftermarket warranty, but Id guarantee our service writer is going to grill said company before we roll it in and find out they aren't going to pay.

Back in my auto repairs days, we didnt accept any 3rd party (as in not sold by our used car dept) unless they paid instantly by credit card.

Both Tige and Indmar are refusing to transfer the warranties. I’m officially SOL.

If you’re kind of handy, it may not be that big of deal. Most of the stuff that they charge crazy amount of money for, can be done semi-reasonably, on your own. My dealer has done more damage, than good on my boat, and my local Nautique dealer is much better, and much more cost effective, than my Tige dealer. I’m looking forward to never having to step foot into my Tige dealer, again. They deny the majority of my warranty stuff anyways, which makes it pretty damn useless, especially when I have to do 500 miles of driving every time I drop my boat off at the dealer.

That being said, and trying to look at the bright side, it’s bullshit that they don’t warranty these things for a specific number of years or hours.

            not to back them but...
there's an actuary somewhere back in the day that has done the work that with each subsequent owner the cost to the manuf. goes up by "x". boat manuf. have decided that 1 owner is the sweet spot to protect the balance sheet.
same thing with the second owner transfer. if they didn't put timelines on it, no one would pay until they had a problem. a portion of the people never have a problem so it's free cash to tige/indmar. but those that do would now pay the warranty transfer. this creates an offset where there are less transfer monies coming in and same warranty monies going out.

it's all about bean counter $$ and tige/indmar or any manuf. for that matter could change the policy to be no limit on owners nor any limits to transfer warranties but it would come at a cost and frankly that's a cost myself personally do not want to see.

But ten days to transfer? I've owned my boat now for 12 days. Picked it up, brought it home, and now waiting for the new license plate and paperwork so the thing is legal to even transport to the local dealer. In that time, I've lost my opportunity for warranty?

This simply tells me how confident manufactures are in their product. They would rather just cancel the warranty than grab my $1000-1500 I'm holding out to them for the transfer.

I should edit my comment to reflect that manufactures are not confident in the outsourced products they install in their boats. Tiges lifetime hull warranty speaks volumes about their boat building quality and expertise. Apparently they have no faith in what they put inside that hull.

                  UPDATE:

I contacted Justin at Tige and, as always, he came through.

Just wanted to publicly thank him here and reiterate that my frustration was with the dealership (and with myself for being unaware of this warranty transfer nonsense) and NOT with Tige.

I know it’s about the money, for them, but I don’t see where, on average, it costs Tige, any more, whether Billy Bob or Joe Schmo owns the boat. I think it’s more like they do a half assed job building these things, and the earlier they can get out of fixing stuff, the better, for them. The warranty is plenty useless, when they say “that isn’t a warranty issue” on half the stuff that goes wrong, anyways.

Ps, I don’t have an issue with the transfer fee. Then, it’s at least an option for 2nd and 3rd buyers. But I do think the warranty should be available for the length of the original warranty.

First you have to ask yourself why would the same boat be sold by multiple owners? It’s probably because the boat has issues that haven’t been fixed. That’s means probability of warranty claims after a 2nd warranty transfer is very close to 100%.....

                        What exactly did he do?
