I know factory specs say the 25ZX is 6,300 pounds dry and boatmate states their triple axle trailer is 1,800 pounds. So 8,100 pounds dry just want to know how close that actually is. I'm looking for a different tow vehicle, I don't tow often but my 2004 Ford Excursion is getting a bit tired and looks like will have to put some money into it. I have a family of 6 plus two big dogs so love the excursion for the room and unfortunately the newer SUV's just don't have the towing capacity. Thought about the Expedition Max with max trailer package but I believe I'd still be right at capacity.

Anyone weighed a 25ZX on Triple Axle trailer?

As long as my 25ZX customer is cool with it I will run his up to the scale when it comes in for winterization. Truck stop with scales about 10 minutes from the shop so can handle it on my lunch. It should be in sometime soon hopefully.
I think the Max with the tow package is good for 9300 ya?? It would be squeeze with 6 but the 7.3 gasser Ford is putting into their 3/4 tons are tow beasts and less than moving into a diesel. They did have some ignition harness issues out the gate but beyond that I think the reviews have been solid.

I find it interesting that the RZX2 is listed at 5500, the RZX3 is 6000, but the 25ZX is only 6300. I just saw the shipping weight listed as 2000 for an RZX2 3 axle trailer with 18" wheels with a spare.
My RZX3 on a two axle trailer fully loaded for a day on the water came in at 8600 pounds. Add at least 300 for the boat and probably 200 for the third axle/wheels/tires and you're at 9100 pounds, plus or minus toys and cooler items. Does the 25 still use a 65 gallon tank or is it bigger? Add that extra weight if it is bigger.
My guess fully loaded, ready to run is 9300 pounds.

Thanks for the both the responses. I don’t believe that the 25ZX is only 6,300 pounds either! It has an 89 gallon fuel tank. Yeah the expedition max is rated at most 9,300 pounds.
I was guessing somewhere close to 10k pounds for the 25ZX and triple axle trailer with some gas in the boat and gear.
We towed from Kansas City to lake Travis with my bro’s 15 gmc 2500 duramax and it got like 9 miles per gallon. Towing was great with his truck but the mileage was pretty crappy for a nice diesel.

The Fast Lane has some pretty good reviews of the 7.3 both towing and unloaded, and I believe a review on a Tremor packaged 7.3.
Without derailing too much....as a mechanic I'm stoked about the 7.3. Pushrod engine that is still variable valve timing. Indirect injection so less of the carbon issues DI engines have, and more accessible for service. Only seen pics but it looks like coil packs are easy to change as well.

It’s really too bad everyone killed off the 3/4 ton SUVs. I can totally see a need for an eleven thousand pound towing rating
The new f150 will have a 14000 lbs rating in a crew cab I think (with the new bigger eco boost and 13.5k with the hybrid)- maybe the Max will see that engine combo in the next few years?
Option B - bolt a seat into the bed of a super duty and put the 2 kids you like the least back there. (Don’t do that. That’s a joke)

Yes some trips I’d love to have 2 kids in the bed where I can’t hear them! Hahaha. Yeah really sucks ford hasn’t re released the excursion with the 6.7 I’d buy one tomorrow if that happened. There are conversions guy down in Oklahoma does them they are sick but you are looking 100k at least.

The problem I’m seeing is that most non 3/4-1 ton rigs that have the towing capacity to pull these big boats don’t have the payload capacity to go along with it. You might be able to tow with an f150/tahoe/suburban but you can’t/shouldn’t put 6-8 people in it at the same time.
I saw a Toyota Sequoia at Powell this past weekend towing an ri237 sitting on the rear bump stops with the headlights pointing sky high with kids then piling into it.

The 25ZX fully loaded up is going to be in the 9-10k range. An Rzx3 generally comes in right around 8500 loaded up so seems fair to say.
I would be very hesitant using a half ton truck besides the new eco boost let alone an suv. The half ton trucks really lack in the cargo capacity.
Used my buddies early 2000s Chevy 1500 to take my boat (9500lbs) up to the dealer and oh boy did that thing ever squat. We were 15km under the whole way. He uses it every day to tow his 237 to the lake but less than 5 min of quiet residential.
I like being able to keep all my lead in the bow of the boat and not have the truck squat more than an inch or pass people going up a mountain pass. Hence the Duramax... lol

this reminds me early in the season there was someone loading up their newer supreme (I'd say 23ft, 2017+) with a 2WD nissan frontier. Dude was spinning tires bad. I was walking up to him to ask if he wanted me to pull him out when he finally made it.
more on topic, I have the 3.5 EB and its a beast. I'd estimate my boat/trailer is about 6k with fluids and gear. Even with 5 ppl in the truck, and a truck bed full, you'd never know it was there if I wasn't getting 10MPG. The newer f150 EB with the max tow might not be a bad option either. Seen ppl tow loaded goosenecks with them.

I will probably end up with a 1 ton truck that has a middle front seat or wait and have an excursion conversion built for me. I also rarely tow as the boat is on a lift in a covered dock at the lake.
