Tige Z1 2014 - but no Convex VX a no go?

I'm looking to get my first wake boat, and came across a 2014 Z1 - I noticed it doesn't have the Convex VX. I'm guessing you can't add on somehow at this point - so how is the wake without it? My gut tells me to simply pass... and wait.

    Thanks!

IMHO, no VX is a plus. The fixed VX helped to a point, but IMO, id rather start with nothing and build from their.

I wouldn’t worry if it didn’t have it, honestly it wasn’t much of a improvement. Much better off to spend the money and have GSA added onto it.

Since I'm new to this universe - So what would you add to it? I would like to have a good wake out of the box - since I'm a beginner. I get intimidated reading online with all the mods people have done to earlier models.

Anything I should be aware of in this model?

The one I'm looking at has the following rear configuration: Screen Shot 2020-09-13 at 8.24.24 AM.jpg

          1) Easiest way to get surfing is to just add weight to one side of the boat to create a surf wave.

          2) Still easy and Next step up is too add weight to both side of the boat and put a suck gate on the non surf side.

          3) Not as easy and more $, evenly weight and add GSA. This requires installing surf tabs and controller equipment....

Edit: I would start with #2 and as the family surf passion grows, you’ll find the time and $ to make #3 happen!!!

This would be your best (but probably most expensive) option.

Another option would be to just slap a suck gate on the non surf side and list the boat to the surf side (i.e. lots of weight on the surf side rear, much less weight on the non surf side rear).

One of my friends has a 2006 Moomba Mobius. He just put a new 900 lb bag in the port rear surf locker. We surfed it on Friday night with a cheap suck gate, 900lb bag full and about 200 pounds in the starboard rear locker plus plug n play ballast in the bow. We had a ton of fun. The wake wasn’t as huge as my RZX2, but I didn’t have any less fun.

tige z3 works well listed. you will need upgraded bags in the rear corners and if running a smaller crew, plan on another 500-1000lbs of lead. if you run regularly with 6-8 in the boat(not kids) no additional lead is needed, just larger bags.
reach out to chpthril on here and he will sell you the bags you need for the rears. nothing needed up front as factory ballast is fine.

this will get you a wave. as you explore it, you can add a suckgate later but imo to start out, list the boat. it's easier and less variables to mess with. bamer's is right on however I'd start with 1, then 2 and then 3.
taps at 3 or 4 and speed at 11.2-11.6 if riding on a lake and you are set. need water depth of 15ft but more is better.

post up where ya are located and you might be close enough to another forum member that can assist ya....

Thanks man. I'm in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I haven't bought the boat yet, but looking at options. There's also a 2013 Centurion FX22 Enzo - but that model appears to not have any of the new tech introduced in 2014 (CATS and RAM Fill, though I read that eats up all the storage space).
