Didn’t think of that, makes sense.

Drove the boat over the weekend and the steering is much better. It still has a bit more tension than most other boats I’ve driven but the tech said that is coming from the gearing in the smart wheel. So as long as it stays the way it is now I’ll be happy.

Was it covered by warranty? My dealer is saying its considered a wear item and isn't covered, same with ballast pumps. I thought that was odd at best. They are also telling me they have no cables in stock and have been on order for over 6 months. Anyone else running into the same issue?

No it wasn’t covered. They told me the same thing about the wear and tear item. Don’t know about ballast pumps. Lucky ballast pumps are much cheaper than steering cables.

Did you ever get this done? Mine is in the shop waiting on parts from Spain.

Yes. Parts were delayed due to COVID. Back then it took about 3 weeks to come in.

I had a 18 z3 and had to replace beginning of this year with 90hrs. Lasted a season and a half.

I got to replace the steering cable on my 2020 22RZX as well. 1 season and 90 hours. Hopefully that is the fix, but going to check the wheel too.

One thing I suggest to dealers is to pop the cap on the steering tube every year and pack it full of grease. Then put the cap back on. That will help a little to seal the opening. Will not keep the issue from happening but will reduce the amount of water getting into the cable.
                      Oh Yeah!

Not sure what the steering tube is. Is that at the helm or on the cable back by the rudder?

I had my steering cable replaced this winter (110hrs). Took the boat out and it is still very stiff. My wife can hardly steering it while surfing. I have some grinding when I turn the wheel from lock to lock as well Seems like other have had the same issue but it’s been smart wheel related. I have no smart wheel? Any ideas?

I drove a friends g23 last year and it turns WAY easier than my rzx3.

Had a tilt mechanism go on an older tige’.
Does it turn okay without the cable attached?
