    Prop recommendation

I have an 18 RZX2 with a 17”X15.5 prop, Raptor 400, 2:1 trans, and 800lbs of lead. This prop is great for surfing and has plenty of low end toque but seem to be running high rpms when we are cruising the lake. Top speed is 37mph @5400 rpms. Surfing is around 3400rpms @ 11.4mph.

I’d like to buy a spare prop to hopefully get the rpms down a bit and pick up a little more top end. Also don’t want it to have trouble getting to surf speed when loaded down with ballast. I was looking at getting an acme 2693 (16.5”x16.75”). Will this give me what I’m looking for? Anyone running the 2693?
    Thanks in advance.

These tow boats are not speed boats....

Looks like you will pick up about 3-4mph with a 16.5” x 16.75” at 5400...so you’d be right at or above 40mph

At 30mph, looks like rpm should be about 4100

Surf, at best rpm could drop to about 3200rpm. The surf rpm may not improve if the efficiency of the prop drops because of having a smaller diameter and larger pitch.

I don’t have experience with this prop on your boat, but I do know how to calculate the effects you will see. I’m normally pretty close.

All in all, you are probably on the best diameter and pitch for the performance you’re seeking.
