Need help with engine warning alarm

So this past weekend out on the water my engine alarm would turn on when randomly. It’s a continuous loud beep and the only way to turn it off is to turn the boat off and back on again. I have a 2006 24ve. The alarm seemed to only turn on when I put the boat in neutral or right when I put it in drive. I checked all of the gauges and temp, oil pressure, and voltage were normal. I’ve also checked all ground connections and haven’t found anything loose or disconnected. The alarm doesn’t come on every time but just randomly throughout the day. Thinking this could be a bad sensor or something to do with the throttle. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

I had similar trouble with my 22v and ended up being a ground issue. The main cables coming into the bus bar under the helm didn't have the best connection, i added some washers to improve the connection.

search Limp Mode with alarm. Mine did something similar 2006 20V and it was the Throttle position sensor. $180 part have not had an issue since.

Does the boat lose throttle authority when this happens? Or do you still have throttle?
        Oh Yeah!

Okay that’s good to know maybe I’ll give that a shot, I thought it might have something to do with the throttle. Where is the sensor located?

Yes it does. The only thing I can do is put it in reverse. I can’t accelerate at all.

Calibrate your throttle assembly per the instructions.
              Oh Yeah!

Thank you for the info! So when you say calibrate the throttle assembly are you talking about the rewiring that you explained in that thread? Also do you know where I can find a Potentiometer for an 06 24ve? Figured I would change that as well.

I would not rewire just yet. Yours may already have that done. I would just adjust the pot first.

Here is the pot for the '06 only.
